The end of the blurb on back of the label reads "Without Doubt, this is the finest example of our brewers art. Truly the connoisseur's choice." Pretty Ambitious (some might say boastful). Since I love at least 4 of Fuller's brews, I thought this was worth a try.
pours a deep amber that looks incredible. The head is quick to dissapear but leaves plenty of lace behind. The aroma is of plums, brandy and grains, with an alcohol twang. The taste is very complex with malts dominating. I keep thinking of different liquors when sipping this, like cognac, brandy, and port. Theres lots of raisins, figs, plums and even some grape skins. The hops are barely perceptable except for some structural bitterness.
The mouthfeel is very smooth with medium amounts of carbonation. The drinkability is fine but a bit encumbered by a spicy alcohol aftertaste. Over all a very great beer, though not as great as the label claims, that goes for Fuller's ESB.

Purchased this bottle at the store located by the Fuller's brewery and brought it back to the states. Pours a dark, reddish color, with a thick tan head. The clarity of the beer's color was impressive - another very pretty Fuller's beer.
The smell is strong - mostly honey, with some hints of hops as well. The taste is sweet, thick and doughy, with a pleasant tingly, hoppy aftertaste. Not much depth to this, but otherwise a nice beer.

What a lovely colour this beer has. It pours a amber colour into the glass, with a medium thick head. That disappear quickly, leaving a thin lacing on the glass. It has a big fruity smell with hints of caramel and fudge. It has a rich bittreness in the taste and also some fruity taste. Some hints of orange??? Even some caramel in the after taste. It is a strong beer but you only feel the warmth of the alcohol. This is a very nice beer and like the name says it is pride of Fullers.
