Crazy thick head. Tart, syrupy taste similar to Arrogant Bastard but with less bite. Fruity and malty finish. Very well balanced. Sweet aroma. Very good!

Pours a hazy, deep copper color, with a nice frothy cardboard colored head, that lasts long. On the nose there are fruity aromas, as well as nice caramel malt among other things. On the palate you can detect, the complex fruitiness, malts, caramel, toasted bread, and a nice slight sweetness. Emmmm, so good! Overall this is another great beer from Fullers

Very interesting beer. More subtle, I think, than the ESB. Where the ESB hits you with it's full chewy maltiness, the maltiness in this beer is more subdued and you're actually slammed by the bitterness the first couple of sips. As you get used to the bitterness, you'll start to notice the sweet maltiness (although this is still more subdued than in the ESB) A little later especially after the beer warms up, you'll start to notice some toffee notes starting to mix with the maltiness and slightly citric bitterness. I even noticed the occasional slight hint of banana, but I'm not sure if I wasn't just tasting things.

Fuller’s 1845: Clear, deep copper Strong Ale. Rich aroma that you can smell two feet from the glass/bottle, strong earthy, yeast aroma. Excellent, deep rich taste, great body. Long, lingering espresso/chocolate taste, with a hint of warm, rich black bread. Very complex tastes, with a somewhat bitter (O.K. bitter) aftertaste. Excellent, excellent beer. A great after dinner closer.

I found this to be a very drinkable beer. It poured a copper gold color and formed a small bubby white head that left trace lace as it subsided. The aroma was of malt and hops. The flavor was of malt and hops and the finish was a touch astrigent, yet bitter. I hope to find other of Fuller's products that hold up as well or better.

Outstanding. A flavor explosion. This beer pours to a beautiful dark amber color with a ton of lace. The smell is that of fruit and malt and is incredible. The balance of malt to hops is perfect (are all of Fuller's beers balanced or what?) I've tried this and the ESB and have been big time impressed with both. I can't wait to try their other brews.

Now were talking, the best from Fullers for me (better than there vintage ale), lots of flavour, and perhaps a bu=it to easy to drink for the amount of flavour there is.

As another Fullers product, this ale demands comparison to my all-time favorite ESB. Not quite as full in flavor -- a little less fruity, a little less carbonated, a little more yeasty (the bottle conditioning?) and a little more alcoholic warming. A great malt/hops balance and an overall excellent brew and style.

Full body, syrupy alcoholic mouthfeel, gentle malt sweetness, perfect hop balance. An instant classic strong ale.

Presentation: 1pt 2.6fl oz English style brown bottle. Best before date clearly marked.
Appearance: Deep hazy copper with a frothy white lace, that stays.
Smell: Fruity, very yeasty with bold malt sweetness.
Taste: Smooth, full-bodied with malty mouthfeel that's backed by a heathly dose of fruity esters. Then earthy, biscuit flavours appear with a restained bitterness. A faint creamy chocolate note carries though from start to finish.
Notes: This ale has been bottled conditioned since 1995 in celebration of Fuller's 150th anniversary ale. A well made, balanced ale, especially for putting it though so much travel.
