Had two pints of this at the barrowboy & banker at London Bridge. 4.5abv No real head, was a reddish browny colour. Hazy. Malty smell, some hops but they didn't penatrate the malt. Tasted like a watered down London Porter. It had the same raisin, coffee bean flavour but the body is not as thick. Not much fiz, quite smooth. Decent winter brew, not one of Fuller's best but it works. Could be a session brew

Cask at Counting House in London. Dark reddish copper with off white head soon thinning to thin foamy top and some lace. Aroma. Lots of dark fruits and fruitcake. Toasty fruitcake. Good. Gentle Warm fruitcake sweetness with light leafy bitterness. Has good malty winter warmer quality but not outstanding. A bit on the simple side and lacking in complexity or depth.

I had it fresh had pulled directly from the Brewery taps.
Amber color with practically no head.
Faint smell of fruits.
Sweet malty taste with a fruity twist, hints of blackberries.
Light body and low carbonation with small bubbles.
Interesting that although it is a winter warmer is still very refreshing. Seems to have London Pride as its backbone.

Hand-pulled pint in the lovely 'Old Joint Stock' Birmingham (West Midlands) on 5 Dec 2012.

Looked great: those blackbeeries in the brew add colour as well as aroma and flavour. Good dark amber hue to the beer, off-white head that left some lacing.

Nose and taste dominated by those aforementioned blackberries which give it a tart feel from start to finish (just like the bottled version). Really enjoyed it, but one was enough.

At first the aroma of blackberries screams, "What have you done". Then I had a sip. Call the psychiatrist because it's turned me into a schizophrenic. Half of my brain said, "Yeah, summer party and barbecue season is here." The other side says, "What on Earth are you doing?" By the time the glass is empty, you are calling for more. If ever I've seen food call for food, this is it. Give it a hunk of Brie, a mild pizza or (perfect pairing) a Welsh rarebit.

Picked this up at the biggest beer store in the UK, Beers of Europe Ltd. Beautiful deep amber-copper pour with two finger head with decent retention and lacing. Subdued fruity, earthy nose with herbal, hoppy undertones. The blackberries are present, but probably wouldn't have picked them out had I not known they were there. They're a bit more obvious in the taste, but not to the point where this becomes a fruit beer. Lots of caramel malt with hints of tea and brown sugar. Totally agree with other reviewers that it tastes like London Pride with a touch of blackberries. The mouthfeel is a touch thin, but I prefer that to being a syrupy fruit beer. I'm a huge Fuller's fan so this is slightly disappointing, but it's still a solid beer.

The beer is dark amber, brownish with ruby hints, an off-white small head, little lacing.

The smell is nutty and fruity, rather modest.

Tasting initially of dark bread with jam on red berries, pears, ripe apples and some lemon zest.

Medium carbonation, soft bubbles and fluid, refreshing and very little dry.

A nice soothing real ale, relaxing fruit flavor (from the blackberries).

Cask at The King Edward Restaurant & Pub in Ilderton, ON. Taps a deep copper hue with ruby edges, a thin ring of frothy white head, and a few strands of lacing on the tumbler. Smell is sulphur, orange peel, metal, fruity yeast esters, blackberries, raisins, floral, herbal and grassy hops, faint cherry/medicinal note. Appealing but restrained aromas. Taste is mildly sweet and biscuity Crystal malts, caramel, sherry, light indistinct fruitiness, mineral water, earthy and grassy hop bitterness, somewhat metallic. Mouthfeel is lighter than medium bodied, low carbonation, slick middle with a drying and lasting bitter finish. No alcohol or spiced flavours, which is not unusual in English renditions of the style. Overall, this is a thoroughly decent session brew - not as robust, spicy or warming as some North American interpretations but still a nice quaffing ale for the winter months.

On cask at Volo.

Pours a clear dark orange, some amber highlights, thin off white head forms, quickly settles down to a thin ring around the glass before disappearing, no real lacing.

Smell is weird, sweet and malty, some caramel, biscuit, lots of fruitiness, a bit herbal and medicinal, very light.

Taste is similar, weird herbal thing, some fruit, caramel, biscuit, decent malt but very light which excentuates the strange character.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with low carbonation. Probably wouldn't order this again.

Really a very pleasant beer overall - not outstanding but pleasant even good/very good in every respect other than smell which was too faint for my nose.

There was some malt and some fruity esters but very faint and little complexity.

The taste which has a fruity note as if of autumn forest berries rather than being a fruit beerc is reall is strongest asset. Much better than the last Fuller beer I had and in all a very good taste - I would buy this again!

Tried this on cask at the Churchill Arms Pub in Kensington. (The Thai food in the garden, by the way, is worth the trip, as is the impressive collection of antique chamber pots hanging from the rafters in the main room.)

Looked promising, with a rick, dark amber to light red color, a decent head and good lacing. the smell wasn't particularly remarkable either way.

Taste-wise, I found the "winter warmer" tastes way too subtle. I got sweet malt, a bit of hops, and a bare hint of spice/fruit. The spicy Pad Thai did more to warm me in the winter than Jack Frost did.

Mouthfeel was pretty good, given the style and the locale, and it was perfectly quaffable. But really, this is an average English beer, and a slightly below-average winter warmer...inoffensive, but not really noteworthy.
