Pours a dark, clear Amber w/a 1/2" of head that reduced completely.
Smells are toffee, caramel & butterscotch but all very faint on the nose.
Mouthfeel is a quick toffee malt that is erased by a Czech Pilsner type crisp bitter blast that is a bit off putting that mixes w/a booziness that fades to a clean finish. Meh.

Purchased 500 ml bottle from Jon's International Market in Los Angeles.
Malt forward, but not overpowering. Bread to toffee on the nose. Pleasant bitterness which lingers. Very satisfying

caramelized copper in the glass; somewhat of a honey smell and barest hint of dry spice. excellent balance between hops and malt, though undoubtedly in the malts favor. medium body, off dry finish. Maibock is one of my favorite beer styles and this version is good.

Much better than double block I had from them slight sweetness some grains a bit of bitterness in the finish simple but it gets the job done. Price is Right and her three bucks for a pint. Not sure I would get it again but it does seem like they were trying in this one.

The yeast fruitiness doesn't seem appropriate for BJCP style. One is enough and only bought one.

16.9oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours golden with nice clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; creamy off-white head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have caramel, grains and fresh bread. Lots of malts. The flavors follow the nose. More caramel leading the way. Some toffee in the mix. More fresh bread. Nice little bitterness to it. Subtle spiciness. Possibly some rye and black pepper in the mix. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed for the most part although there's a subtle warmth in the finish. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's very fluffy, slightly creamy but sharp. It's smooth and dangerously drinkable.
This is a pretty solid brew. It drinks big, but the aromas and flavors are more or less what you would expect from the style. It's enjoyable and fun to drink. I like it.

Does not taste super great. Purchased at a local Bevmo which I know often keeps beers around for way too long. I think it's possible it might be skunked or just too old. So take this review with a grain of salt.
