This is a good hefe from Germany, because crisp and clean. I had many great German beers out there, Edringer hold its own.

Looks: hazy brown and yellow & super bubbly straw color with a 2" deep white head, cleared nicely. Hea retention or lacing is not there , but great effervescence

Smell: fruit and slight yeast scent

Taste: slight lemon , orange notes and great earthy taste up front. Finishes fruits and very refreshing

Mouthful: Great carbonation and some syrups. The balances is there in this beer

Overall : This beer goes down vereasy. This beer holds it own agianst any hefe beers. Little or no aftertaste. It is very refreshing and perfect for a summer time.

The beer pours a nice dark gold hue with a foamy white head. The beer is quite cloudy due to the wheat. Smells hoppy, spicy, mild with notes of wheat. The beer tastes mellow with a hint of clove and a smooth caramel finish. Nice beer, would drink again.

Look: Semi-cloudy dark golden color. Foamy white head, good foamy lacing.

Aroma: Malts, wheat, faint caramel and banana.

Taste: The taste starts out with malty, subdued caramel sweetness. Banana bread body.

Mouthfeel: Bright, carbonated.

Overall: A delicious beer, lots of banana and caramel.

Poured a 500ml bottle into an Imperial Pint glass. Pours a deep cloudy gold with a fizzy-ish creamy white head. Aroma is almost non-existent. As someone else said, it can't be bad because there isn't much there. The same, unfortunately, goes for the taste. There just isn't much to it, good, bad or otherwise. Has a decent mouthfeel, with a little bit of carbonation. But overall, there just isn't much to it.
I've had it draft, as well, and it had a bit more "oomph" to it, but not significantly, so I've averaged out the two in the scores.

Poured form a 500 ml bottle into a snifter.

Straw pale color. Hazy as usual. Over the top head with excellent retention. Decent lacing on the sides. A good amount of very tiny bubbles. Super translucent.

Aroma is of yeast, banana and cloves. A little bit of spicy notes. Good amount of wheat. Typical hefe aroma. Strength is good.

Flavor is again full of clove phenols and very slight banana esters. Wheat sweetness is very much apparent. Slight warmth and creamy touch of yeast. Finish is semi sweet.

Mouth feel is light medium. High carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink. No astringency.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.

A: Pours a cloudy dark gold color. The head is a three finger white shade with that has a foamy appearance to it. Retention is really nice, too.

S: Not only are the typical banana/clove estery aromas lacking here...so is just about anything else. About the only thing I really notice is a mild cherry-like sweetness and the faintest hint of wheat. Not really a bad aroma - after all, how can a nose so weak be considered bad?

T: Well, the aroma suggested a feeble flavor, and that's what I got. While the lack of weizen esters allows the opening wheat quality and finishing noble hops to shine through more strongly, it really drinks like a dinky-ass US wheat ale (think Widmer Hefeweizen) than a proper German hefeweizen. Okay, so a slight banana presence builds up after a few sips, but by then it's too little, too late. Just a boring beer in all flavor aspects.

M: The texture does a good job of staying out the way of the lack of flavor by finishing with a mildly clean dryness to it. I could do without the budding wet, syrupy linger, but I'll certainly give it points for being refreshing and crisp.

O: A score this low would suggest a mediocre-to-poor effort riddled with flaws - however this isn't actually flawed, just devoid of any good weizen characteristics...or any characteristics for that matter. This one is certainly easy to down, at least. But when both Sierra Nevada and Weihenstephaner make weizens that are both superbly drinkable AND full of character, why should you care about this one?

appearance:
yellow. hazey. golden center . very nice tops. very ornate ,slick head with some minor lace. the head retention is consistant to the last drink. pretty amazing.

smell:
not much to be said here, on pour its all grains , and I didnt detect any signs of malt
maybe some honey. not a strong nose, pleasant, to the point, as with the rest.

taste:
great stuff. has the sharpness i want from wheat beer.but not citrus note to overpower that grainy straw flavour, which is unlike the common wheat beers, I do enjoy a wheat beer with some orange or lemon to it, but this more classic format is what ive been looking for in a wiess. seems very session worthy,

mouthfeel:
starts out very sharp, levels to a good active carb at 2/3rd thru the swallow..
thats when the grains really pan out. has a slight slickness to it that makes it go down easily, but might get slightly filling after a few pints.

overall:
I enjoy most properly made wheat beer. rather or not it has the citrus note so many leading wheat beers use, isnt really relevant to me, I actually enjoy a wheatbeer without the generic "faux citrus" wheaty bit.. and this fits the bill in a great way,
I was hoping to not be dissapointed by this as my gf's father drinks it regularly, and he is a man of taste. I will most certainly be buying this again. and reccommend you do.

Appearance: Big head, sticks around with a hazy golden body.
Aroma: Fruity phenols but they're not distinguishable as a particular fruit.
Taste: bready with alcohol and toast.
Mouthfeel: Highly carbonated, spicy.

Paired with a burritos at Cafe 4060 (meters above sea level) in Potosi, Bolivia. Nicely balanced the spiciness and was generally refreshing. I was a bit surprised to notice higher levels of alcohol in it.

Erdinger is horribly underrated on this site; I know its not the strongest, nor the most flavourful weissbier, but it is utterly delicious. One of the easiest drinking beers I've ever tasted. A great introductory beer for those unacquainted with weissbier. Erdinger is my favourite beer hands down and a beer a recommend to weizen aficionados and newcomers alike.

On tap at Tolkein's House in Zagreb.

It arrived in a Erdinger glass which is one of the nicest I've seen.The beer has a thick fluffy white head sitting atop a beaut of a hazy golden beer. Some drippy lace.

Regular banana and clove aroma with some sweetness. Hard to get much in a smoky bar.

Fruity flavor of light banana and orange. The flavor isn't too big on this. Decent enough.

This was smooth as butter with a fairly light body and prickly carbonation.

Good Weiss. Got it because it was on draft in a land of wack beer. It did it's job in relieving my beer thirst. Doubt I'll give it another go in the states though.

Erdinger Weissbräu's Weißbier pours a lovely opaque body whose colors range from pumpkin to apricot to amber, depending on the light. A flurry of fizz creates and sustains a large, slightly off-white foam. But the foam is gassier than it first appeared to be and doesn't stick around long.

The beer smells more like a lager than a wheat beer. Lightly toasted grains and grassy, herbal notes are up front. A slightly metallic aroma is palpable; I hope this can isn't too old. Moreover, I have to stick my nose way down into the glass to pick up the beer's aroma. Wheat beer should make its presence known from a foot away.

The taste is as watery as the nose was airy. Still, the flavors that do surface are pleasant. Toasted grains are up front. Sweet, fruity nose follow closely. At first I pick up apricot and citral notes; no banana or clove. By the fifth sip I begin appreciate some very subtle clove-like notes at the back of the palate. The beer's hang is long and pleasant; this is surprising considering the beer's thin taste. In fact, the aftertaste may be the best thing about this brew. Mild bitterness and herbal aromas mix well with the very mild clove aromas.

I'm ambivalent about the beer's mouthfeel. On the one hand, the watery tastes makes the beer feel watery on the palate. On the other hand, a swirl around the tongue produces a frothier foam than the head had suggested.

Erdinger Weißbier is not a brew that I will revisit on a regular basis. But if you have a chance to try it, take a sip.

Tip: This beer should be served slightly cooler than room temperature.

I agree with many people who mentioned that this beer is under-rated. I think it does a good job of representing the beer style and is quite pleasurable to drink

A - I cannot rate according to appearance as I was not able (travelling) to pour this beer into a glass.

S - The smell is inviting, but similar to the taste, it is quite mild of banana and clove. Estery.

T - Plenty of banana and clove. A good peppery kick at the end of the sip. Left a slightly bready and bubble-gum aftertaste in the mouth. I personally found it to be moderately above average.

M - Crisp and dry... Plenty of carbonation. Bubbly and almost, (but not quite), spritzy. Slightly watery.

O - I would recommend this beer to anyone new to hefeweizens as it drinks crisp and smooth and isn't a palate wrecker. The flavors aren't too strong or overpowering. Very sessionable. May pick up a couple bottles next summer for when it gets hot out again... In my opinion, this beer is worthy of a rating between 3.75 and 4.0.

Pours a good head that holds well. With some lacing. Colour is cloudy cold pale amber
Smell - not much really.
Mild but pleasant 'weizen' taste, with loads of fine carbonation combined with a creamy mouthfeel. All mild: Fruity Bannana Bubblegum.
Afterwards I feel a bit dissatisfied though...

The 500ml bottle I got says "In der Flasche gereift" (Bottle conditioned).

500 ml bottle into signature weizen glass, best before 3/2013. Pours hazy golden amber color with a nice 2-3 finger fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange zest, banana, pepper, clove, apricot, wheat, earth, and yeast spiciness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance. Taste of banana, pear, wheat, pepper, clove, earth, bread, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of wheat, pepper, pear, banana, clove, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a short bit. Flavors are well balanced with decent complexity; a bit on the watery side, but good. High carbonation and light-medium body; with a lightly creamy and very crisp and prickly mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good Hefeweizen. A bit watery, but the flavors are nicely balanced; and this is extremely easy and refreshing to drink. I did enjoy it.

A:
It comes with a hazy body and a pale yellow color. The white head crowns thickly before subsiding with decent retention and leaving some patch of lacing.

S:
Ester, banana, citrus, clove spice and bready malt.

T:
Subtle and rather monotonous ester, only zesty citrus appears forefront along with decent clove spice and ghost-like hop bitterness. Malt is also there with a bready touch.

M:
Medium-bodied, smooth mouthfeel from fine carbonation, finish is dry.

O:
Fresh and refreshing without doubt with good thirst quenching ability, high drinkable beer.

Bottle: standard 500mL brown bottle, standard German wheat beer macro label.

Appearance: pours hazy light straw, per the hefeweizen standard. Great thick and foamy head.

Aroma: the typical wheat beer aromas are here, but also backed by a bit of alcohol. Not super sophisticated, but good enough.

Taste: not massively flavoursome, but again has those great wheat beer flavours of banana and cloves. The slightly lighter flavour creates easier drinkability, so that's fine by me.

Aftertaste: the flavours become almost dusty, like a heavy malt profile. Quite nice, actually, and something I haven't come across in a wheat beer previously.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied with light-to-moderate carbonation. This is one of the lighter and easier-drinking wheat beers I have had - without delving into the unsavoury world of the Krystalweizen.

Overall: a good quality wheat beer. Not as sophisticated as some others, but a great intermediate and sessional hefeweizen.

The aroma features very bready malt and light yeast with just a touch of fruitiness. The flavor is like the aroma but a bit more yeasty.

Served in a bottle at Tonic (Hilton Beijing) in Beijing, China

A: Pours a cloudy medium golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a three finger tall dense frothy off-white head that has great retention properties, eventually reducing (about half way through the drinking of the beer) to a thin layer covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of banana, clove, and wheat.

T: There are moderate flavors of banana and clove along with some lighter notes of wheat and just a hint of bubble gum. There is a very slight but noticeable presence of yeast flavor.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Refreshing, easy to drink and quite enjoyable. This beer is a very nice summer beer and is quite refreshing in the warm summer. The flavor of this beer is more complex than the smell would indicate.

We pour a clean butterscotch colored beer. It holds a two finger head of creamy, bubbly whitish foam. This retains nicely, leaving sticky sheets of lacing around the glass. There is a thick haze to the beer, but no sediment, while carbonation appears active. The nose is bright with wet wheat, bittering orange peel, and hugely metallic yeast. There is a soft creaminess on the front, with relatively strong white sugar and cidery sweetness. With warmth the grain becomes a bit more metallic, to match the yeast, and becomes borderline adjuncty. Our first impression is that the flavoring is quite soft, and those sweeter Hefe flavors are hard to find. As we sip, wheat and water hit first. These act to subdue a deep spice that is palpable far in the distance. There is clove and black pepper, with a gritty metallic zing of yeast and bready malts. The peak shows a further thinning of the malts, leaving room for again, a flash of that spice, and a curious lemon-lime sweetness that pulls us to the finish. Here there are more metallics, more yeast, and that funny souring citric character. The aftertaste breathes of creaminess, sour orangey citrus, light spice, lactic sourness, wheat, and water. The body is medium, and the carbonation is medium, but a great foam builds in the mouth with each sip and swirl. The mouth is left prickly and alive, and slightly dried with a fine astringency. There is decent slurp, smack, and pop with each sip. The abv is appropriate, and the beer goes down quickly.

Overall, what we enjoyed most about the beer was the inviting look, and how light it was on the drinker. Comparatively within the style, both the nose and the flavoring were bland. The nose was not titillating, so when it came time to drink we were not surprised to find a watery, underwhelming taste hit the lips. This is an easy drinking and refreshing beer, but little else.

From what I can see on here, this beer is a little underrated. I love the colour, a beautiful light straw with an ultra-white head that dissipates a little too quickly. The smell is quite good, with fruity highlights that really stick out. Banana, apricot and citrus all packed in there. The taste is almost a little sour, with very little trace of the fruit in the smell but loaded grains. Very refreshing, light-bodied, and super drinkable. Overall, it's a great beer.
