Heather Ale (Apocalypse Series No. 2).

An ale of opulent proportions flavored with heather tips, the beer will be combining the floral fragrance and slight bite of high country heather with Northwest Glacier hops.

Appearance: Orange. Mostly clear with a ever so slight haze. Thin, white head. Decent lacing.
Smell: sweet and floral. A bit grainy.
Taste: pretty much like the smell. Perfume. Grain.
Mouthfeel: medium carbonation. Medium body. On the sweet side.
Overall: kinda weird. I have nothing to compare it to, as I have never had a heather beer. Not too keen on the perfume. Sweet artwork on the label.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is full of some herbal notes, as well as some toffee and biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. The heather quality definitely comes through but it is complimented by some orange citrus, as well as some toffee and biscuit malt. The bitterness is low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

S - Very sweet, carmel, and some bread.

T - Similar, sweet carmely malt, bread, more like toast.

D - Good carbonation with a nice medium body.

O - Very sweet, bready and toast like.

Draft at the brewpub in Seattle.

Pours a hazy pale golden orange color with a two finger frothy white cap that very slowly settles into a lasting ring. Chunks of soapy lacing left behind.

Sweet floral aroma that's slightly herbal with spicy hops and pale malt notes.  The heather is prominet giving off a perfume like fragrance.  The hops are also kind of strong with a spicy, grassy character.  Subtle pale malt backbone.

Medium bodied with a strong floral, heather presence that lingers over the hops and pale malt into a slightly dry finish.  I hate to use the word smooth but the heather gives off a silky flower petal presence that's nicely balanced by the dry hops.  Spicy but not bitter with pale malts adding some needed sweetness.  If the hops were any stronger they would overpower the flavor but as they are they provide really nice balance.  This beer isn't extreme but it's really well balanced, flavorful and easy to drink. Abv expertly masked.  Never would have guessed it was 7.65%.
