Pours a very hazy, mirky amber with piles of white head and good retention. It has quite a bit of particulate that just hangs in suspension. Nose contains citrus and a smooth bready malt. Chrismtas orange is brought to mind. Taste follows with citrus and earthy hop and bready malt, with a bit of caramel. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is great for a beer like this good balance between bitter and sweat. Overall a very nice beer, although a bit out of style. Winter ale is a wide category but this still seems to miss the mark.

Reviewed: 19 January 2013...
Glassware: Mad Elf tulip...
Occasion: defeated I Spy Halloween on the Wii with the fam--good times....
Appearance: soft hazy orange body that holds a thin white head; slow, dissipating effervescence; sporadic lacing...
Aroma: punchy fruit--grapefruit? citric for certain; definite pale ale hops and a sense of malts--balanced...
Palate: medium-bodied warm finish; mildly affecting in the teeth aftertaste lingers ambivalently...
Taste: mildly abrasive hopsthat crunch with a citric/dough combo...a honey sweetness finishes welll...
Overall: like the beer's name, his glass comes up big and hearty; by the end, buzz-worthy; a dry finish suggests complexity and a fitting after-dinner drink...

Had this on 2013-03-26 in Columbia, PA
A - Hazy golden-orange with a 1-finger pillowy, white head that leaves good lacing.
S - Juicy naval orange flesh, mild spice, hop floral, very light pale malt. Mildish aroma.
T - Cracker, tart citrus, tea, slight caramel, grapefruit zest, hop oils. Dries quickly. The tart citrus and significant bitterness linger-long on the tongue. I like the flavor.
M - Light-medium body and medium carbonation. Prickly, lightly resinous then crisp.
O - Would never have guessed this was a winter warmer. Tastes like a pretty bitter, citrus-tinged IPA.

Elysian BiFrost - 3/3/2013 - bottle 22oz - bottle conditioned
Aroma - Citrusy American hops - big hop aroma.
Appearance - Light orange, white head
Taste - Full hop flavor - wonderful bitterness, a bit of caramel in aftertaste
Mouthfeel - Moderate carbonation, light-medium body
Overall - I've had this hoppy winter warmer before, and thought it was fine, but this year's version was amazing. A lighter colored counterpart to Sierra Nevada Celebration, emphasizing the hops. My favorite winter warmer this past season.

P- AOH
A- light copper color with a one finger head that is frothy and leaves a decent lacing on the pint. a hazy look to it as well.
S- Tangerine and exotic fruit smell like starfruit or papaya. Very interesting. Malst are nicely hidden. This is kind of like an IPA rather than a winter warmer.
F- Carbonated dry citrus fruit taste. Different and not what i expect from a winter warmer. Light caramel malt, hard to notice.
M- dry like and IPA but crisp and smooth. I like it but as an IPA not a winter warmer.
O- A great beer but it doesnt fit the style. Thats the only downfall.
