A - Pours with one finger of off white foam on top of a somewhat hazy, amber-brown body. The head fades quickly and leaves little lace on the glass.

S - Bready malt, red apple, and a bit of caramel and cinnamon.

T - Rich, toffee malt and licorice up front. Some red apple in the middle with caramel and more licorice in the finish.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.

D - Very interesting, this is not at all what I expected. I don't get the tartness I though would be here, but there is definitely some funk. Overall, it comes off something like an English Old ale of winter warmer with spices and complex fruity and toffee flavors.

Big thanks to newbrewbb for sharing this. Served in a tulip taster. Pours a beautiful amber hue with a translucent clarity and a dense, 3/4 inch, cream-colored head. Nose is a bit muddled - citrusy, grassy, fermented grains, some sweet notes and tart cherries. The flavor profile has a lot going on and makes it difficult to really nail down everything - sweet, tart, peppery, grassy and malty/caramely. Mouthfeel is medium-light in body with an even, lively carbonation, some astringency and a slightly oily texture. I can't really rate this to style because this beer tastes nothing like any witbier I've ever had. That said, a pretty interesting experiment due to happenstance. Not something I would seek out, but it might be interesting to see how it continues to develop with time.

Thanks to queens1130 for sharing this one at drewone's place.

Bottled 11/2011.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with some fruity and honey aromas. Taste is much the same with a tart apple and sake-like flavor on the finish. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with an interesting story behind it.

With this lactic acid, I thought it would be more of a wild ale, and why not. A constant lactic sourness that grows on me. In fact, nicely drinkable, also a little woody (I would like more of that) and a little spice (I would like more of that). Drunk fairly soon after arriving in the U.S. Premiere Gourmet.

This beer poured out as a reddish colored brew, definitely not something a Witbier typically looks like. The head was white with a good retention to and a light lacing. The smell of the beer is unique, I was picking up some kind of cinnamon notes in there as well as the sweet malts and maybe a few other subtle herbal notes. The taste was on the sweeter side, It has some light spice there as well with a dry finish to it. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, very smooth and gently carbonated. Overall it was a really good brew, probably one of my favorites from this brewery so far. I felt this was more like a Winter Warmer than a Wit though. I would drink this beer again if the price was right. It was pretty pricey for what you get I think but still worth a try at least once.

I got this beer from my buddy Leon, Basica, when he was in Holland a few weeks ago. Thanks for this bottle Leon. This is my first Japanse beer i guess!

Poured in my Struise glass this beer looks good but it is strange for a witbeer. Fluid like cloudy tea and a lightbrown head with some lacing after a while. No carbonation visible.

Good smell of some koriander. Taste is dito. This is a good brew for a sundayafternoon. Not very much carbonation in the mouth. Thanks again Leon!

Finally broke this out of the beer fridge. Poured into Allagash Coolship glass. Nice head, fades fast. Nice amber hue, not what I expecte from a so called "witbier". Not too sure that label is correct. Drinks like a sweet dubbel of some sort. Lots of caramel and candied sugars flavors. May be just a bit too sweet for my liking, but in no ways a bad beer. Glad I was able to snag a bottle of someone making the best of a shitty situation.

Appearance is reddish-amber. Pours with a nice head. Little lacing left on the glass but 20 minutes later some head lingers on the edge of the beer around the glass. Carbonation is finer bubbles and results in a creamy texture. Smells of blood orange or tangerine and alcohol is present. Taste is a strong candy flavor. Mis-classified and the result is closer to a Belgian style.

Bottle opened on 8.10.12.

A - Pours a dark cloudy orange with a thin light tan head that never really fades.

S - Sweet candy, toast.

T - Sweet carmely, bready-toast, some metallic tastes as well.

D - Decent carbonation with a medium body.

O - Sweet, some metal flavors. Did I just drink a radioactive beer? We will see.

Pours a dark copper color with golden orange edges and a two finger yellowish-beige head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind.

Earthy, musty aroma with sweet malts, lactic funk and vinous dark fruit. Smells like a BSDA/barley wine hybrid and nothing about it resembles a witbier. Some grassy hops along with hints of leather, caramel and toffee followed by grape, raisin and dark berries.

Medium bodied with tight carbonation and a very odd combination of flavors. Tart and vinous with some lactic funk, sweet makes, zesty spice and vinous fruit. Faint acetic solvent character butnit doesn't affect th flavor too much. Slightly earthy, leathery with hints of caramel and toffee as well as some peppery spice, raisin, grape, fig and other dark fruits. Slightly medicinal with a lingering syrupy finish but it's still decently drinkable. Very strange tasting beer.
