The folks at Save On (carry out) had not tried this one but the brewery came highly recommended. It was a nice risk and a great treat - not a novelty.

The taste is not nearly the overly ginger brew I thought it might be. It is a well balanced (beer? ale?) with some spice, but not a bunch of different ones.

It looks quite good in the glass - a partly cloudy light brown. The aroma is fantastic. Beautiful beer, a little hops, and ginger. The aftertaste is very pleasant.

I really enjoyed this. I wish it weren't so expensive.

Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass.

A nice dark orange amber, thin rising carbonation along the edges, presented with a three finger light tan head and even bubbles. Settles to a thick tan head, kind of looks like a strong ale. Some good spider like lacing to match as well.

Minor ginger on the nose, with a powdery sense. Not much else going on, but truly does smell like ginger with a nice softness.

Palate hits with a minor wet body. Not much of a taste of ginger on the beer, but finishes with a quite dry powdery feel. Not much malt feeling presence that comes with the first sips, but manages a mild sweetness.

Overall it's kind of interesting but I am not exactly keen on this one.

What an odd beer.

Pours murky and almost does not look like beer.... Head dies no film.

Aromas are of dull ginger, no zest... Malts...

Taste is dull and malty and earthy, and the ginger zing I was expecting does not appear. Malts and spice all the way. It's not a bad taste it's just way unusual and does not fit standard beer terms.

Mouthfeel lightly carbonated and somewhat alcoholic.

Jury out. It's not beer just not as we know it. Have to say would not buy again...
