I recently visited Troeg's after a short span away and was happy I returned. I was able to check out some new merchandise in the 'General Store' and take a leisurely stroll on the self-guided tour while sipping on a Troegenator. The first half of my visit was spent in the tasting room which provides a kind of view inside the workings of the brewery since you can watch as the brewers use the hop dosers and mash in while you enjoy a scratch beer. I like the long bar and beer hall table but I do feel like others that you still are basically enjoying craft beer in a warehouse setting. I feel the service is good and friendly, the only time I have waited for more than a minute or two was on a busy friday or scratch release day.
The food is interesting as I have seen it evolve from pretzels and snacks to a wide array of shared plates of cheese and sandwiches not to mention the option to 'float' your beer with vanilla ice cream. The offer snack foods like rosemary and brown butter popcorn as well as seasoned nuts and do offer non alcoholic beverages like soda and coffee from a local roaster if you are bringing a designated driver. I feel the value is very good and selection is great since you can get half a dozen flagships and a few seasonals or scratch beers at any given time and most in a force carbonated growler to go too. I recommend checking Troegs out since the beer quality is very good and the only real negative is the noise level and crowded bar area occasionally.

Recently 10 of us went on a PA brewery trip and Tröegs was by far the best we visited. We stopped by Friday night and the gift shop was closed but we ended up doing a sampler and getting food. Walking in the place is spectacular and spotless. The staff was very friendly and even though it was three people deep at the bar there was hardly any wait. With our samples we all ordered food and were ecstatic. The grilled cheeses and the pork belly with egg both were amazing and should be tried. Four of us left with filled growlers, cheap when it comes to that style grower and fill, and we had to come back the next morning because they were all empty. The self guided tour is very informative with all the informative stations and the gift shop had one of the best selections we've seen.

Troegs is my hometown brewery, so I'll admit to the bias of a neighborhood devotee. But their move from Harrisburg down the road to the larger location in Hershey was an investment worth a good return. So, here's the advertisement:
The new space with its high ceilings full of the clean, active aromas of the brewing craft pull in patrons at all hours. Many of them spill out onto the porch with its wood stove and picnicky warmth.
One end of the tasting room contains a cafeteria-style snack bar that's more creative in its offerings than most of the restaurants nearby. There isn't a clear effort to match the food with the brews, but it all goes down together just right. There are tasty standards in the form of small bites, sides, and sandwiches--specials rotate frequently. And the prices make the whole experience a bargain.
Pour-staff are pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient with busy crowds of many different types of customers. They even keep up with the food menu and are on the money with pairing suggestions. Tastes of beer are free, multiple times over if one must debate; snifter samples are inexpensive; full pours are generous. Growler fills are efficient and very fairly priced, without restriction apart from the smallest-batch scratches.
Wandering through the self-guided tour is even fun, and the shop is nice, as well.
Even families find the atmosphere acceptable at the same time that serious hop-o-philes gather and others swill.
The place for suds in the sweetest place on earth.

visit from 10/5/12
(as posted on my blog)
We had the opportunity to go to the new Troegs brewery in Hershey PA. The wife and I were able to go to their old brewery when it was located in Harrisburg before they left and moved to the new facility but we never had the chance to make it here. We got there around 6 pm on a Friday Night and the parking lot was pretty packed. There were a lot of people outside at the tables and more people inside yet there was still ample seating for us. We decided to order some snacks off their snack bar menu and sat down to sample a few of their beers. We also did the self guided tour (which just lets you walk through the production site) All in all it was a great place. The atmosphere was awesome, the food was good and the beers were good. The set up is really cool. It it just big wooden tables and you can just sit where ever. They also have a long bar area as well. Great place to visit and it would be cool to visit while they were actually brewing something because as you walk through you could see the bottling line and kegging line and everything else that goes on.

Although I live in Maryland, Troegs is just over an hour from me, so I visit frequently. The Hershey brewery is a tremendous upgrade from the previous Harrisburg location. The hours are great on both weekdays and weekends and the location is convenient for those visiting Hershey park. Troegs offers growler fills, pints and flights in the tasting room, along with an improved menu. The popcorn and fries are both great. The store offers single bottles, six-packs and cases, along with Troegs swag. The prices on the to-go beers are not spectacular, but the freshness cannot be beat. Troegs brewery is a great place to stop for a pint and a snack, or to hangout and have a few.

Great experience both times at Troegs. Tasting room is the main attraction with all beer available on tap. The tasting room is a large barn like structure with many tables for tasters to enjoy and socialize, creating a great atmosphere. Pricing is low but even more than expected, even for a brewery. Food is not great, mostly snacks such as popcorn and pretzels, but let's be honest, you do not go to a brewery for the food. Everyone on staff is extremely helpful and friendly, great brewery! Be sure to check out the scratch brews while visiting, they are often very good!

Decided to stop in the new Troegs facility on my last trip to Al's/Pizza Boy. It's a nice atmosphere, with a quasi post-modern industrial feel, a bit sterile (it is pretty much brand new after all) and not at all intimate, but it's got a fun vibe to it. I'd imagine it's slamming during busy hours, and with a large bar and a massive area for sitting or standing, I'm sure they can accommodate. And with Hershey park about a quarter mile away, they're really in a premium zone. What's nice is the separate gift shop where they offer beer sales as well as all the merch you can imagine, from stickers to glassware to frisbees.
Troegs has always made good quality beer, so there's no problem there. As far as selection goes, it's basically their year rounds and whatever seasonal may be around. So there isn't a lot to choose from, but there's enough to keep you happy if you like their beer. Some brewpub exclusives would up the selection rating.
Service is fine, and everyone is generally in tune to the brewery's operations and the beer scene in general. It looks like they have sort of a snack bar set up, as far as food goes, and I didn't bother sampling anything.
Troegs is definitely worth stopping in if you're in the area, but it's not a place I'd regularly visit. Not that it's bad, but everything they offer on tap and in bottles is readily available at pretty much all my local hangouts. And with no brewpub exclusives or real food service, it's just not enough to justify my going out there regularly. Though I am looking forward to seeing what the Splinter release is going to be like.

In September 2012 while in Pensilvania a group of us had the mad elf at a local bar and enjoyed it so much that we had to make a trip to Hershey. We enjoyed the self guided tours, the small gift shop and that you could buy bottled beer at the the brewery. Furthermore while on the self guided tour you could go the the counter and enjoy a fresh crafted beer as you viewed the fermentation vats, the bottling area and the small cask beer room. I highly recommend this to anyone that is in the Hershey PA area to make a reservation for the special guided behind the counter tour.

I live 10 minutes from Troegs. So My husband and I try to pace ourselves! The beers are amazing. I am a wheat kind of girl so I LOVE DreamWeaver... My husband is an IPA guy but loves to try the scratches too... His favorites are Nugget Nector, Mad Elf and the IPA's... The food is Great.. a bit eclectic which we LOVE... Not typical Pub food- much more exciting and delicious...The little store they have also has lots of goodies. If you are in the area...DO NOT MISS a visit to Troegs Brewing....

Really nice place. Plenty of seating, though it can still get crowded on a weekend. Service has always been good. They offer all of their year round beers, plus their seasonal, and whatever Scratch series beer is currently available. The shop has a pretty large selection of Troegs gear, plus beer available by the case, bottle, and six pack. You can mix and match six packs, which is nice if you want a variety. Empty growlers are $16, which is a steal (they're swing top, with metal handles). I haven't seen that type of growler for that price anywhere else. Fills are reasonable too. Most are around $10. I can't say much for the food, as I've only tried a couple of items, but what I had has been good. The menu isn't very large, but it's meant to be a snack bar rather than a full restaurant, so it's understandable. Definitely stop by if you are a fan of Troegs beer.
