A: Slightly hazy yellow amber in color. Forms a moderate sized, bright white head. Excellent retention and plenty of lacing.
S: Aroma is dry. Grapefruit and citrus pith. There is a hint of juicier citrus and a little pine, but the grapefruit dominates.
T: Taste is likewise dry. There is a mix of pithy grapefruit and light pine notes. Light pale malts, maybe a little biscuit. Finish is dry and astringent.
M: Medium bodied. Heavier carbonation. Moderate, but persistent bitterness.
O: I was surprised to see this one listed as a double IPA, since it drinks like a single IPA. As a beer in general, it's pretty good with a nice dose of hops, but as a DIPA, I'm not overly impressed.

Troegs Brewing Company - Perpetual IPA - 12fl oz bottle
Another brew given to me as part of an "overstock transfer" from Hendry (reviewer on here).
Look - Pours slightly hazy copper-yellow with a small, soapy head that dissipates quickly. Decent lacing. Minimal carbonation.
Smell - Citrus (grapefruitish) & pine hops, slight sweet malts hiding underneath.
Taste - BAM! Snappy hop kick that tastes like it smells but the pine is up front and the citrus is underneath, tint of malts for some blending. Excellent hop bomb, one of those palate wrecking brews for sure.
Mouthfeel - Hops rest (piney) and are constantly changing with this one, perpetually evolving as you drink it. Very drinkable and drinking this is a discovery process.
Overall - Solid DIPA, thoroughly enjoyed. While the malt was pretty much nowhere to be seen, I was not disappointed and I did not find myself looking for it. Great brew.

Bottle poured into glass yeilds a large creamy head that recedes very slowly and with nice retention. Bright straw in color and very translucent. Leaves heavy lacing down glass. Smells of resin, grapefruit, and bready malt.
Taste starts with grapefruit, floral, bread, and pale malt. Ends with piney resin and a bit of funk. Has a crisp but very dry finish. Slightly creamy, lighter moutfeel for an IIPA with moderate-heavy carbonation. I like the balance of flavor in this one, lighter and more drinkable than some other IIPA's.

a: served in a small chalice, well-retained off-white head atop a light to medium golden-amber colored ale
s: familiar pine hops accompany a base of moderately sweet pale malts, some light or moderate caramelization but fairly light and in balance - a nod to the "imperial pale ale" designation, nicely resinous, good stuff
m: carbonation on the lighter side, body on the lower end of the medium range, a little boring as the feel goes, but fine
t: opens with steeped pine needle hops and pale malts bringing a medium sweetness level, hops resinous and sappy, but bright and vivid
o: a fine and tasty ipa, if a bit unremarkable and lost in the crowd of solid ipas out there these days, not sure the "imperial pale" name is much more than marketing - this fits in with the typical low-moderate malt, high hop ipa

On tap at Mad Mex keep the pint promo. Nice carbonation. Served with little head but it could be the bar's glass - who really knows. Smells of a citrus, grapefruit bomb. Tastes great. Nice & bitter, dry. Little bit of crystal to back up the hops. Excellent and well done. Could drink a lot of these through and through. Glad to have another solid, high-quality IPA here in PA.

Cloudy yellowish-orange pour with a nearly non existent head: the nose is pronounced grapefruit and yeast. Upon tasting, Perpetual IPA lets your palate know who's boss right from the get-go!
The first tongue slapping sip acclimates your palate for the next grapefruit bomb blast with an interesting yeasty character. After the initial shock to the palate, this bitter IIPA quickly grows on you, and each sip seems to offer a different flavor characteristic from the extreme hopiness.
There is an underlying yeastiness in the aftertaste that detracts a bit from the overall character of the hops.
The mouthfeel is on the hefty side of medium, slightly resinous, carbonation about perfect, and the long yeasty pink grapefruit aftertaste stays with you for a while. If you like your Double IPA on the sweet side, this might not be your bag, but if you enjoy a bitter grapefruit bomb that is well balanced and inviting, this is a nice choice.

Mmmm Yum!!!
hazy yellow pour with a small yet frothy head - Absolutely fantastic for an Imperial IPA, lots of complex hop flavor with a distinct yeastiness. Pairing it with a big hearty supreme pizza - lots of spicy pepperonie, spicy sausage and hot peppers to complement the variety of hops and spice you get from this beer. Yet there is a sweet smokey malt finish that is very compelling and delightful!
Lovely Imperial IPA - highly recommend.
Raising my glass to kangarooAdam59 for the trade! Cheers brother!

Pours a clear straw/gold (depending on your lighting) with only a sliver of head.
Little on the nose,
Taste is a sudden blast of hops that's not overpowering, but lasts without a bitter aftertaste. You can taste that 7+%ABV
Smooth, easy mouthfeel, but no coating.
Definitely an easy-drinking IPA, that keeps a low profile compared to the brewery's more hoppy offerings.

Cheers to Stormking47 for this one!
Pours golden/honey colored with 3 fingers of pearl c olored head. Good head retention & decent lacing
S: Breadyness with pineapple, a touch of cakeyness once warm
T: Light breadyness, lemons, & faint grapefruit, woody hops & dryness up front. Grapefruit peel as this warms, slight breadyness, faint pineapple. Finishes with fairly strong grapefruit pith & a bit of pineyness
MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation, Good balance, carbonation softens up once warm
Very drinkable, a decent DIPA, but lacking the hop assertiveness I was hoping for, nor is there much complexity

Lots of carbonation in a clear light brown color. It has some sweet dank hoppy aroma. Sweet citrus smell.
It’s a sweet juicy hopped beer on the tongue first with a bit of citrus and decent amount of pine middle. The sweetness conflicts well with the bitter parts from the West Coast IPA notes.
It finishes off with a big dry tongue with a bitter grapefruit aftertaste. I like the amount of alcohol. This is a fantastic IPA.

A: Pours a golden yellow color with nearly 2 fingers worth of head that fades to half a finger and retains that for a while
S: Mostly citrus hops with a hint of grass and some maltiness
T: Follows the nose. Nice and citrusy with a light earthiness and crackery/bready malts. No alcohol presence
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: A good IPA with a great citrus hoppiness. Fairly easy to drink and priced nicely. Recommended

A: Poured out a very clear golden color. Two fingers of nearly white head. Solid retention and lacing. Very light, but I think the looks are going to be deceiving on this one.
S: Nice smell of grapefruit, papaya, and pine.
T: A total continuation of the nose.
M: Medium body with a somewhat smooth and creamy feel. Carbonation is a little lower on this one too.
O: I can't complain much about this one. Better than your average IPA, yet there are really no frills or thrills. This one would make a good session drinker.

A - Standard IPA. Light golden yellow, nice 1 finger head. Leaves really nice lacing in the pint glass, so gets a higher grade.
S - Not much malt, sweet fruity smell from the combo of hops, yeast and malt. That's basically all I smell. Not getting any earthy or piney aromas. Definitely not a west coast IPA.
T - Lives up to the smell. A solid IPA. Nice fruity taste, a trace of alcohol possibly. The sweetness of the light malt backbone adds to the fruity hops for a nice east coast IPA.
M - Smooth mouthfeel. Moderate carb. Low bitterness for an IPA. Easily drinkable.
O - It's a solid east coast representation of the style. Definitely not a bitter piney bomb like the west coast IPAs, and that's ok. Easily drinkable, nice hop flavor. Solid beer overall.

pours a pretty clear straw color. Small head, but a decent looking beer. Aroma is nice citrus/pine hops, not too strong, but solid. Taste is similar but manages to capture a bit more of the flavor. It's a good hoppy ipa. Mouthfeel is nice, well carbonated, a reasonable amount of body... It's a solid, really tasty ipa; won't knock you over, but highly drinkable and tasty!

A: Straw yellow/light orange color, finger of head, slight haze but mostly very clear. Doesn't look much darker than a Bud Light.
S: HUGE amount of grapefruit/pineapple right in your face. Smells really amazing and very refreshing. All citrus.
T: Very interesting. Bitterness up front followed by slight amount of citrus. Not nearly as much as is in the smell. Now some of the pine comes through too. Malt right after that which is sweet. Ends dry with some bitterness.
M: Light bodied, goes down very smooth.
O: Great beer. This was made for those summer months. It's very refreshing and smooth @ 7.5% ABV. Bitterness does not linger on the aftertaste. The citrus is so mouthwatering. Another beer I could see myself drinking on a regular basis for sure.

A: This poured a clear light gold with a little white head.
S: It smelled like apricot and grapefruit with a little honey.
T: It tasted like apricot and grapefruit, with honey and citrus zest, and a little herbal hops. It had a very clean and crisp bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with some carbonation. Kind of light body.
D: This was a very nice IPA. It wasn't ground breaking, but it had a solid taste. However, the scent and body were a bit weak. The finish was really smooth, so it was very easy to drink. Nice go to brew.

This is a sneaky good beer. Bright clear honey gold amber. Light, fluffy head that stays a while and leaves a bit of a covering. Good lacing and no carbonation evident as it sits. Smell is a good combination of toasted malt, light fruit esters, and firm hop presence. Some grassy notes and a bit of toffee tinged sweetness. Taste is where the money is made. Wonderfully balanced while still presenting a hop forward persona. Front starts with toasted malt, quickly leads to a gentle but mildly tongue scraping hop extravaganza. Subtle combination of pine and grapefruit with a good hop oily flavor. No trace of the alchohol. Feel is surprisingly light for a a beer of this strength. Smooth easy carbonation with a lightly creamy but crisp feel. A super drinkable ale that goes down like a pale ale. of lower abv.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle that has a bottling date stamp of 122012-20:50. Sampled on January 25, 2013.
The pour is your basic golden yellow but there is no head to speak of. The clarity is good.
The aroma was my favorite part of this beer with plenty of floral, piney, perfume-like esters but at the same time they seemed muted rather than in my face like so many American IPA's.
The body falls into the light to medium range.
The taste is similar to the aroma in the way it is played down but the sharp, hop bite definitely forces itself forward at first. There are also some laid back malts. It fits the style well but there is nothing out of the ordinary about it.

A: nice lacing.
S: Sweet citrus, rotting melon and cat pee.
T: Sweet grapefruit and other citrus; bitter grapefruit pith. Sticky, not quite syrupy sweetness and then a lingering bitterness on the finish.
M: Full, almost fluffy, oily, not too much carbonation.
O: Not a bad beer but nothing to distinguish it in a crowded category. The mouthfeel is really nice, but combined with the sweetness, it really hurts drinkability. But then one doesn't expect to make a session of a beer of this style...

A: Beautiful light golden color with a long-lasting, sticky, creamy head.
S: An immediate full nose of hops - on the catty side (which is a good thing for me). Became more complex with warming.
T: Fabulous balanced taste. Complex hops and a nice bread flavor. Clean bitter citrus taste in the middle and another intense hop blast in the swallow.
M: Carbonation was forward throughout the tasting with a light, dray and refreshing mouthfeel.
O: This beer was a fun - an absolute delight. Just can't think of a way to improve this brew, but then I have have too admit a bias toward hoppy IPAs.

Pours a light golden color - very clear with a bubbly white head leaning towards cream - good retention & nice lacing. Bottled on date clearly visible - this has about a month on it.
A nice floral bouquet in the nose with a big citrus punch grapefruit, orange, tangerine - an alluring aroma.
Malty chewy biscuit up front quickly fades to sweet tangerine which is almost immediately lost to bitter grapefruit. A roller coaster of delight for the taste buds. Finish is dry with a bitter herb punch. A delightful IPA that is exciting and delicious.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Suspect pours a hazed gold color with a tight-bubbled white head. Nice, stiff retention and fluffy lace.
Nose is honeysuckle galore with lots of bitter, floral hops and a substantial crackery malt base.
Taste has a nice sharp honeyed malt up front with an equal 1-2 punch of hop flavor and bitterness....kinda floral with a hint of pine resin and grapefruit peel. More tropical-esque flavors come out as it warms but the beer stays well balanced (hop flavor/bitter) and smooth. Good offering from Troegs, but probably falls in the B-list class of IPAs overall.
