Poured into a Sam Adams glass.
Pours yellow, clear as water, with very little head but surprising lacing.
The aroma is interesting, if a bit incongruent to the flavor. The aroma is earthy, almost compost-like (this is a good thing), with floral aromas very noticeable. From the way it presents, I thought this was going to taste like a bouquet of lilies smells.
The flavor, however, totally belies the aroma. Lots of melon sweetness. Very rich, deep flavor. For how sweet and melony it is, it's fantastically dry and bitter on the finish, which adds some serious complexity. For a mass-produced, readily available, moderatly-high ABV IPA, this one has tons of depth and intrigue.
Finishes dry, but leaves a good deal of sweetness behind as well. Very neat finish.
This is a great go-to beer for bang-for-the-buck. It's not the cleanest, nor most flavorful or bitter IPA, but given the availability and potency, it's worth every penny. I go back to this brew frequently.

Pours a clear golden orange with a one finger frothy head.
Smells of grapefruit citrus and caramel hops. Very pleasant, fresh, and inviting.
Tastes is nicely balanced between the bitter hoppy citric herbal peppery notes and the malts. The malts come in with a more caramelized brown sugar and slightly burnt toffee.
Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and slightly viscus. It's the perfect blend for the abv. I always like when the mouthfeel denotes the abv. This ones still very drinkable.
Overall, this is a beautiful ipa that leaves great lacing, smells inviting and has a taste to back it up. I would get this again in bottle and I would love to try it on draft.

Big thanks to jzeilinger for sending a couple bottles of this my way! Knocked this one off my wants. Bottled on 4/4/13. Poured into a tulip glass.
Pours a slightly hazy deep garnet orange with a lustrous bone-white head. Great lacing left behind. A nice looking beer. Big citrus notes on the nose. Mild spicy profile, pine-scented finish.
Moderate body, but easy-drinking. Good carbonation. Big citrus-forward hops make up the bulk of this beer. Mango, grapefruit, navel orange. A great bitter snap that fleets away quickly, causing me to gulp this one down. No lingering bitterness. Sweet kiss of sugar on the finish. This is a splendid beer. So glad I had more than 1 bottle at my disposal. Would love to get some more of this.
