Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a deep-deep brown almost pitch black color with a two finger tan head. The head has great retention. It eventually fades to give a nice level of lacing.

Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a sweeter chocolate aroma. This is mixed with lighter hints of caramel and coffee.

Taste – The taste starts out a bit on the sweeter-maltier side. A caramel brown bread flavor meets the tongue. The roasty bready and caramel flavors persist to the middle of the taste where they are met with a cocoa and coffee flavor. The caramel then begins to fade. This ends up leaving a pleasant cocoa-coffee flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body is on the medium side for both creaminess and carbonation. The body could use a bit more thickness, but the carbonation is fitting.

Overall – The transitions from sweeter to more roasty are nice in this brew. While not the greatest body it is easy to drink and makes for a good session porter if that is what you are feeling.
