Pours a really light fairly hazy yellow, thin but attractive head.
Smells a little wheaty, maybe slightly tangy...kinda dull.
Taste is lightly sweet, a little hoppy for a kolsch, spicy and floral hops, mild flavors overall.
Mouthfeel is really good, crisp and very refreshing.
Decent beer. 6.3/10

Blackstone Chaser Pale German Style Kolsch from Nashville, TN. Actually says 5.2% ABV on bottle.
This beer had a light, hay (?) flavor with a small touch of citrus. Smelled barely like a hint of lemon. Enjoyable Kolsch.
I drank it out of a bottle from Food City in Knoxville, TN on 12/16/2012 from a create your own 6-pack.
Maybe/Yes.

A: Poured a cloudy, alka-seltzery orange color, with no head which honestly kinda bugged me given the style.
S: I didn't get much here. Maybe some bready malt, which was faint to put in bluntly.
T: On the taste, I really dug the crisp finish, which was very bready and ALMOST sour.
M: Not much in the way of bitterness, but I did like the light, cushiony carbonation bill. The lacing was mild, with a few blotches here and there.
O: Sometimes beer is best remembered in the environment in which you are drinking it. In this case, I was in my parents house (who my wife and I were visiting on vacation) and enjoyed their company... accompanying a local beer.

A medium white head settles into a thin lacing above a clearish straw golden colored beer.
A light bread like malt blends well with a light hops and yeast sourness.
The taste is on the lighter side with with bready malts and light hops that near border on sour, with a slight hint of something earthy.
There is a slight bitterness to the taste that is transferred through the light dry aftertaste and kind of stays with you on this lightish bodied beer.
A kolsch style beer that I kinda like, I think it's the bitterness and dryness coming through that sells this beer for me, I like me them hops.

Straw to light gold in color with slight chill haze. Fluffy white head that stayed with me through the entire 12oz serving. Head leaves moderate lacing along the way. Subdued but distinct malty, bready aroma--cereals and syrup. Medium body and mouth feel. Taste is full of malty goodness with some flowery notes. Moderately dry finish. Refreshing session beer thought perhaps a bit too gassy for style.
A very nice Kolsch!

Another Blackstone beer to try thanks to JonnyGalt (Reddit). I love me a good Kolsch done well, so let's see. Best before Sept, 2012.
Pours a lighter fizzy pasty white almost 1 finger head that fades at a med pace but leaves some nice looking lacing, over mostly clear golden lemon yellow colored beer.
Nose has some light bready malts, touch of baker's yeast, and a very light herbal earthy hop touch, also some light golden malts with touch of straw.
Taste starts light and toasty, grainy malts and light bready taste, and hint of straw. Then hops again, grassy slightly herbal and earthy hops that are a bit on the side that I don't like that much. Fairly light overall as well. Finish is semi dry with bit more bitterness (which stays light overall), and light grassy herbal hops lingering.
Mouth is lighter bodied, decent carb.
Overall kinda meh, the malts aren't bad but not perfect for the style, and the hops are a completely different world, not close to what I expected for the style, more destined for a British Pale, and they come through too much IMO.

A- Pale golden. Head is thin but sticks well. Very clear.
S- The aroma is simple but pleasant with a touch of lemon among a bright floral note. On the whole, pleasaing.
T- The flavors aren't quite as sleek as the aroma. The lemon and floral notes are there, but get muddled among a biscuit malt flavor. Faint bitter finish.
M- Light body, with medium-high carb.
O- A middle of the road kolsch that is what the style should be: easy drinking, with a interesting but light flavor. Unfortunately, the promise of the aroma got muddled in the flavor.

Tasted On: 05-21-2012
Freshness: Best by July 2012
Packaging: 12 oz. brown bottle
Glassware: Blackstone pint glass
Purchased: Received during a brewery tour
Color is a clear, straw yellow, with lots of bubbles streaming from the bottom of my glass. The head is creamy and white, standing 3 fingers high, showing both good retention and lacing.
Aromas are of grassy, hay and floral hops, with some mineral or vegetable smells as well, but overall are not strong.
Taste is lightly fruity and spicy, with a low bitterness of grassy hops. There is also a light malt sweetness in the background.
Mouthfeel is clean and crisp on a light body and prickly carbonation. It finishes with spicy flavors and moderately dry.
Overall this isn't my favorite Blackstone beer, but makes for a good thirst quencher on a hot day.

A: Transparent pale yellow with a mountain of pillowy foam that slowly recedes.
S: Strong grainy malt presence with a bit of biscuit. Faint granny smith apple notes emanate from the glass, and there's a touch of pear.
T: Soft, grainy, well attenuated malt profile with a light fruity sweetness that reminds me of a blend of pear and apple. There's a whisper of mineral on the back end. Finishes smooth with subtle fruit notes.
M: Medium light in body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and dry.
Overall: A highly drinkable and quite enjoyable Kolsch that shows nice balance between malt and fruity sweetness.

Fizzy, clear, pale yellow body.
Smell is grainy with some lemon and citrus zest.
Taste is very grainy and somewhat bland, almost alka seltzer like. There's a minue splash of lemon.
Mouthfeel is clean with prickly carbonation..
It's a decent kolsch and went down easy in the Tennessee heat.

Bottle poured into imperial pint glass. Best by 4th week of 12/2011.
A- Light, pale yellow. Minimal light white head.
S- Big aroma of clean, bready malt, backed by a fair amount of hop kick in the background. Very pilsner-esque.
T- Taste is restrained v. the smell. The same bready malt flavor is there, but not as assertive. A decent hop bitterness, again similar to a pils. A slight sweetness on the finish.
M- Fairly light, easy drinking.
O- Not a bad beer at all, esp. considering the price. Also nice is that it is local, and an easy tailgating/session beer, or something that can be introductory for the non-craft drinkers.

#1 of my one stop Southern tour.
Golden body, slightly dull finish, good clarity, topped by three fingers of billowing white foam.
Assertive grassy aroma jumps from the bottle and glass.
Soft malt, lightly sweet, practically dances across the tongue. Hop nip at the swallow balances out the sweetness into the aftertaste. Clean finish with just a pleasant echo of that balances swallow.
Proper light mouthfeel with a bit of a tingle bouning along the tongue.
A prper summer quencher I was glad to try.

A: Light golden in color, fairly clear, but has some haze. Thin, foamy white head leaves behind very minimal lacing and film.
S: Pale and sweet malts dominate the smell with light lemony, grassy hops.
T: Follows the nose for the most part. Pales, biscuity malts with the hops taking a larger role in taste than in nose. Crisp, clean taste.
M: For a smaller beer, the mouthfeel isn't too bad. Again, crisp and clean on the mouthfeel.
O: Chaser Pale certainly isn't my favorite offering from Blackstone, but it's not bad. I could see myself drinking a few these on a hot summer day...would make a very good lawn mower beer.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with SpringsLicker (thanks!).
Poured a lighter golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of lemons, grains, lightly grassy and I'm picking up a light spiciness. Tastes of lemons, lightly fruity, grain and citrus.

Blackstone Chaser Pale Ale
12 oz bottle
Recent brewing, chased down 05/07
Medium pour in an English Pint
Poured a slightly hazy gold with a medium white somewhat lasting fizzy head.
Smelt of moderate lightly toasted white bread, and light flowery hops.
Taste was upfront moderate bitter grassy hops and sweet bread followed by a moderate bitter doughy yeast and hop grassiness on an average length finish.
Palate was light to medium bodied, slightly oily, sparkling, and lightly astringent and metallic on the finish.
Overall, this isn't the best example of a Kolsch I've ever had. The finish and the metallic twang is somewhat bothersome. I just wish it was a bit more rounded and hoppy.

Pours a hazy pale golden amber color with a small white head that quickly vanishes into a trace amount of lace. Nose has some lightly sweet fruitiness with a bit of apple as well as a clean maltiness. Taste is sweet malt, mild caramel, and a hint of fresh pear up front following by a fruity hoppiness. Would make for a very nice summertime beer. Thanks to coldchill for the sample!

Brilliant gold with a fast-receding white head. Aroma is faint toasty malts and whiffs of spicy, grassy hop - clean.
Starts with a toasted grain maltiness before the hops come to play, tossing some bitterness onto the palate and faint grassy, noble-hop-spicy flavors around the rest of the mouth. Slightly thin, but I don't want a massive Kolsch dammit! Finishes with a clean, lightly toasted malt and grassy hop balanced aftertaste. No off flavors to speak of.
Very drinkable, this one! Thanks to BA Potsie for the bopple!

Appearance: crystal clear, yellow hue, near transparent at glass' bottom, with an average-size sliver foam.
Aroma is mildly hoppy, delicately floral, honeyish.
Taste: mellow, likeable,...faint fruit in the flavor, a drizzle of hops. Light bodied, crisp and clean, dry finish.
I could toss back these with gusto, especially in weather like this...though, I'd get a hankering for something heartier. Just how I am.

Bright gold in colour with medium carbonation. Theres bit of citrus fruit and light wheat maltiness on the nose. The flavors are somewhat cream ale like, with some slightly sweet honey malt notes. The body is relatively light, and it makes for a very drinkable brew. A decent enough summer sipper.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Ninjaworm.
Pours a very clear, very pale golden color with just a hint of orange. Head is minimal as is lacing.
Smell is grains, some musty fruits, and just a hint of nobel homes.
Taste is very clean. Sweet grain, definite fruitiness, hops are much more pronounced. Fairly straight forward.
Mouthfeel is good, carbonation could be a bit better, but still good.
Overall, very drinkable, and quite enjoyable. Very glad to have tried this one. It's hard to make a good Kolsh, and Blackstone seems to have succeeded.

Pours with a light gold color and a nice white head that dissipates rather quickly. Intensely fresh aroma with a good burst of hop flavor up front, malt dominates the middle and finish. A modest but refreshing beer. Probably very good with food but rather boring by itself. A good transition beer to win converts to more flavorful beers.

Served on-tap at the Brewery in a pint glass. Clear yellow body with lots of carbonation bubbles coming up through the glass. A one-finger white head that settles into a nice, creamy cap and leaves good lacing.
Not getting too much from the aroma. A bit of bready malt and a touch of lemon.
The flavor is a little more impressive: light citrus hops and a sweet malt blend together well for a good taste profile. A very slight bitter note comes along at the end and works well.
Light texture in the mouthfeel and a clean finish. Very good overall for the style. Would be a solid session beer or summer regular.

Very average beer. Golden colored with nice clarity, medium white head that retains well and leaves nice lace. The smell is of pale malts with a hint of fruity hops. The taste is bright, with fruity hints of citrus on top of pale malt. Quite watery, but crisp and refreshing. Easy to drink, just nothing to write home about.

Had this as one of the samplers, standard clear-golden color with small amounts of fizz rising from the bottom of the glass. The smell is underwhelming, bits of pale malt is about all I get from this one. The taste is similar with a touch of fruitiness that helps the beer's character. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice, creamy carbonation. Overall a ddrinkable beer, not bad at all but not memorable either.
