I love a good cup of joe, and dark beers are to my liking.

Made a decent head, smells good.
Coffee.

Flavor unlike anything else i've had that has been coffee'd.
Bitter robust dryness. The heft of a warm porter & taste of a good dark roast. It almost needs sugar or a bit of cream.

If you don't like coffee this could be a problem.

Looks like a porter, tastes like you need some eggs with it.

Might be a challenge to finish consuming without bacon too.

Red Eye pours a very dark brown with a tiny tan head. A few spots of lace cling to the glass.

The aroma has lots of coffee some dark fruits and alcohol. Hints of vanilla and cherry (oak?) too.

Each sip of this medium to full bodied beer is smooth and oily with light carbonation. The flavor has nice rich malt notes with coffee mixed in. It begins with chocolate, vanilla and hints of roasted malt. Towards the end the coffee moves it before a nutty and grassy mildly bitter finish. Once gone the chocolate and vanilla lingers on the palate.

Very tasty and easy to drink. Coffee doesn't dominate and blends nicely with the other flavors.

Pours a slight, tan head with just a touch of lacing. Black color. Deep toasted malt in the aroma with the fruity brightness of coffee. There is a rich, black olive aroma underneath it all; slightly sweet and fruity. Flavor is intense, fruity, and acidic as the coffee dominates the front. There is a nice, bright, fruity-floral hop bitterness that peaks in the middle, and the toasted malt sits into the finish nicely. You don't much notice the booze (9.2%ABV), just the warming effect. A nice, viscous mouthfeel.

This is very, very good. If you like your coffee bright and floral, this is a coffee bier for you!
I think I may prefer the NG Coffee Stout, and Central Waters Peruvian Morning (both of which are a more toasty, deep flavor [which reflects my coffee choice; opposite of my chocolate]), but this is stunning as well. Sure beats Founders Coffee Stout in my book!

On tap at Dublin O'Neil's in Champaign, IL. I think this is part of the Retro Release Series, but I am not sure what number?

A: Pours a dark, nearly opaque black color. A two finger khaki colored head forms with excellent retention. Rings of lace is left all the way down the glass.
S: At first a buttery, nutty aroma. Then bread and biscuit aromas. Toasted malts, chocolate, light smoke. Finishes with just a hint of peppery spice.
T: Again up front is a buttery, nutty flavor that almost overwhelms everything. As the beer warms that fades and much more nuanced flavors come out. Toasted malt, milk chocolate, baked bread. A lingering spiciness on the tongue. Excellent.
M/D: A medium to full body. Moderate carbonation that is ultra smooth and creamy. The alcohol is nowhere to be seen, except for a wonderful warming. A very nice sipper.

Two Borthers always does rye right. I am a big fan. Lots of subtle complexities here that makes for a very enjoyable sipper. Something I highly recommend.
