Notes:
Our Rhode Island Blueberry Beer is a crisp, refreshing Kolsch style ale made with fresh blueberries from local Rhode Island Farm, Schartner Farms in Exeter, RI! The prominent blueberry aroma that first meets the nose translates into a perfect balance of blueberry and beer flavor that pleases but doesn’t overpower the taste buds. The addition of fresh blueberry juice, over other types of flavoring, keeps our second year-round beer light and not-too-sweet-but-just-right!

The beer pours clear light gold with an ever so slight red tint. The head is little and white, and fades quickly, leaving noting on top of the beer. The beer is crystal clear with a slight haze. On the nose, the beer is ripe with blueberries and blueberry syrup. Wheat grains dance behind everything else in the smell. On the tongue the beer tastes of blueberry, light cereal malts, and a surprising touch of bitter hops, though all flavors are clean on the tongue. The beer begins with light blueberry, which builds into heavy blueberry syrup before fading into light cereal malts and a touch of dry grassy bitters. The aftertaste is light with blueberry and grassy hops. On the mouth the beer feels clean and crisp, while the carbonation sits at a medium level. The mouth is left dry with a slight scrim of syrup over it. Overall, this beer is mediocre. Sure I can drink a lot of it, but the blueberry flavor tastes very artificial and syrupy, which is sweet, but not quite melding enough for the beer. The kolsch characteristics in this beer, while weak are still interesting and nice. The crispness from the kolsch is great, but overall the beer is too syrupy sweet with not enough real blueberry flavor. I don’t think this beer is worth picking up again.

12 oz. bottle. Freshest before date notched is not notched. Whoops.
Golden copper body, with a small, gauzy, eggshell white head. Some lacing. Lots of blueberry on the nose. I can smell it from three feet away! Blueberry cobbler comes to mind, as there are notes of graham cracker and cookie to go with the sweet, slightly tart blueberry aroma. Still, this is a little bit too much of a one note wonder.
Grainy, bready malts up front. Soapy blueberry flavor sails in and takes over. Becomes fruitier, with some genuine blueberry flavor. Honey wheat bread malts make up the backbone. Slightly sweet overall, but not too cloying. Blueberry essence dominates the finish with lingering crackery malt. Moderate to light body, with a lilting, refreshing feel. A nice summer beer if you really like blueberries. For the rest of us, it's an okay, once-in-awhile beer.

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter. best before SEPT notched.
pours out a deep hazy golden color with the slightest bit of red/ purple color noticable at times if you look for it. about a one finger head that faded to a thin, retentive ring after a minute. only spotty, quick lace from a swirl.
big aromas of fresh blueberry juice. smells a little tart and maybe even reminds you of grape juice. pretty nice.
again, a nice blueberry juice like flavor thats just at the right level, a slight tartness thats quickly cut by an assertive carbonation. the beer finishes with a slight wheat, pale malt breadiness and a quick snap of bitterness from the hops.
refreshing light body, great drinkability. slightly sweet.
maybe the best ive had from newport storm yet. a decent summer drinker with appeal to all. a nice sub 5% beer with lots of flavor.
