I stopped in yesterday on a trip to Detroit to see the Tigers. This is my fourth visit, and finally got a meal here. It is located conveniently close to Commerica Park right across from the Detroit Opera House. As you walk in the bar is on the right and accommodates about 10-12 people. Brewing equipment is right behind the bar. The walls are brick with high stamped ceilings. There is an upstairs bar, but I have never made it up there.
They had five beers on tap. I had the Milkshake Stout, the ipa and the bock. They all were quality. They also had a tripel and a light beer. The bartender was friendly and fairly accessible. I was torn between ordering the mac 'n' cheese or the catfish. My decision was made for me when I was informed that they were out of mac 'n' cheese. My date ordered a turkey sandwich. She loved her food. Me, not so much. The catfish was covered in Cajun blackened seasoning. That is all I could taste. I have had Cajun catfish numerous times and it was never caked in seasoning. I couldn't finish my meal, and I am a fat ass that never leaves food on my plate.
Although, I was disappointed in my meal, my date was happy, and my wallet was not abused. It is very reasonable. I had four or five beers, my date had 2 or 3, we both ate, and it was around $40. I will go back because the beer is quality and I will try another meal. Or I can always go to Slow's.
One more thing. The restroom was not even close to being clean. But after a few pints, who can hit a urinal?

Atmosphere: all about detroit here. lots of historic and more known detroit themes. other than that there is nothing super exciting about this place
Quality: nothing to make me wish you could buy it anywhere but they had some decent beers and it was a good place to sit down for a beer before an event
Service: it wasn't busy when i was there and we didn't encounter any problems with service
Selection: a good variety for the amount of beers but they only had about 6 beers
Food: this was probably the best feature of the place. I had some good creole pasta that had great proportions
Overall: a great place to hit up before a sporting event or other event downtown. but not a place to put on a must visit list

They have very solid beer, though only a handful of choices. Variety, selection and quality of food is terrific! Avg sized food menu, but almost every option is a bit unique--You will honestly have trouble deciding between so many desirable choices. The set up is 2 floors--nice, roomy and pretty comfortable layout. Enough tv's to satisfy our sports needs, but not too many to be overpowering and destructive of the ambiance and atmosphere. LOVE the tanks being right behind the bar for all to see!
I hope to be back many more times!!!

Third stop on a recent trip to Detroit with my girlfriend.
Atmosphere: fun welcoming vibe, patrons of all ages, cool chalkboard drawings, Christmas lights add a nice charm, busy spot on a Saturday night, not much seating aside from the main bar and a few tables in the back.
Service: waitress was fast, courteous, and capable of describing the house beers, food arrived in reasonable time. No complaints here.
Selection: ordered the Local 1529 IPA (solid) and Big Sky Scotch Ale (average) on tap; the lady enjoyed her wine. They seem to brew a respectable range of styles as the chocolate stout, pilsner, brown ale, altbier, porter, and tripel were all available on our visit. SN Celebration was the other guest draught.
Food: went with the Brewhouse Nachos, which were pretty tasty. Pizza, sandwiches, and pasta dominate the menu but there's some lighter options like salads and catfish.
Overall: while there's nothing spectacular about this brewpub, I like the approachable party ambience and the IPA is very good. I'd love to return for a full meal to get a better feel for the place; however, based on our positive experience I'd say Beer Co. is worth a crawl if you happen to be downtown.

This was the first stop on our Microbrewery crawl and I wanted to insure my dad that these breweries aren't anything like your average bar. We got there and the people behind the bar did not want to interact with us at all and they kept talking about how hung over they were from the night before. Not a good start to our tour! Besides those facts the beer was pretty good.
They were out of their main beer which was understandable.
Food-I did enjoy the nachos that we got and the atmosphere was pretty impressive. A quite large place, had a second floor which lead to another bar which was pretty awesome.
A little expensive but I can live with that.
Not exactly the best first experience but I would most likely go back if I were in the area and give them a second try.
