Reviewed for BJCP training, Not sure if 5C German Helles export, or lighter 6C dunkles bock. Either way it's dated best before October 31 2017, so probably not up to style, reviewed as 6C as it seems to fit more
Light fizzy white head, low retention, deep amber to copper color but clear
Nose sweet malt, grainy sweet little bread but mild toasted, little caramel and reddish Vienna like malt, mild Maillard, touch fruity notes could be malt derived, no hops
Taste sweet malts, more reddish amber malt, toasted Munich or Vienna malt and little biscuity, some sweet caramel Maillard flavors, mild hop bitterness, complex layered deep decoction mash, malts bring a little dark fruit, fairly well attenuated but little sticky unfermentables, otherwise clean
Mouth is medium to fuller bod, moderate carb, mild smooth softness of the lager and malts
Overall not bad, other than overall abv and OG it's pretty close to style despite the age, although it says that its unique to Taubervalley region so maybe their lighter version of dunkles bock

500ml bottle 4 months past its "Best before" date, so that might account for its slightly lower scoring.

Distelhäuser Brauerei "Landbier"
on tap at The German Society of Pennsylvania Bierfest 2018
Notes: Clear deep amber/light brown body beneath a foamy head of white. Average head retention and lacing. Mainly malty aroma with grainy bread and caramel, and some fruitiness (dark raisin, apple, red berry). Some light floral noble hops float in the background. The flavor follows the aroma with perhaps a light touch of nuttiness added in. Median to moderate bitterness. Mostly dry finish with the bitterness showing a bit more, and some mild floral and herbal hoppiness appearing. Medium bodied with a fine-bubbled median carbonation. Quite pleasant.

Hint of raisins, dark wheat, toasted grain and yeast esters. Malt forward for sure. Somewhat bland tasting. Shorter finish. It's eh. Take it for leave it.

Pours clear, light brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is English toffee and grain. Light bodied, malty sweet, clean, with moderate carbonation. Very clean and tasty German lager. Could throw back several of these.

Appearance: Amber, clear, big frothy head
Aroma: Malty, sweet, with a slight raisin aroma
Taste: Very smooth, well-balanced. Not complex, but quite good; refreshing
Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; so please disregard those scores

Brown 500ml bottle best before the end of this month, so 12 days life left when poured into my lovely Wolnzacher Brauhaus glass tankard.
It looked fantastic, a bright amber body as clean as any beer on earth, on top an off-white head of quality.
The aroma was of earthy malts with hints of caramel and sweet molasses.
The taste an impeccable blend of all things good about German beers: the brew is obviously infused with the best ingrediants available and lovingly produced to a high standard.
Peppery aftertaste, earthy and filling, I had some rough brown bread and some mildly smoked ham with the last few drops of the beer and it suited the food beautifully.
Very impressed indeed.
