On tap at Whole Foods in Vienna, VA.

Looks very good, a little cloudy yellow with a generous head of fine bubbles.

Smell is mainly Belgian yeast

Taste begins with the funk of Belgian yeast (which I like), followed by pine and grapefruit hops, and an acrid, alcohol aftertaste. These never come together and remain in conflict to the end. Belgian styles are an adventure, but this is one I can do without.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Came plastic sealed with a T-Cork. How odd.

Appearance - Not a pop when pulled. Clear orange body. No head. Flat.

Smell - Pale malt. Yeasty. Some bubble gum.

Taste - Sweet. A little nutty. Bubble-gummy like a weizenbock. Booze.

Mouthfeel - Flat as ever. Medium heavy body and sweet.

Overall - Not exciting. Not even very good. And what the hell is with this cork? Explains why it's flat.

Very sweet up front like bubblegum or cotton candy, Only a tiny bit of Belgian spice in the form of clove and banana. Touch of cool hops, but mostly just sweet. It's a uniquely Belgain sweetness though, and it's enjoyable. Nice palate coating mouthfeel.

Poured into a Flying Dog goblet.

A: Hazy golden blonde color with ok lacing and very little head.

S: Yeasty and funky. Lots of earthiness.

T: Odd taste. Slightly spicy. Bready/biscuity. A bit earthy with a tinge of funk.

M: Smooth but lightly massaging. Not a good mix for the flavors.

O: I always wonder what makes them bottle some of their Brewhouse Rarities over others. The only bottled one that I enjoyed was the St.Eadman one, but I haven't had it out of a bottle. I couldn't finish it, so I boiled some sausages in it.
