Bought as part of a 4-pack Flying Dog sampler, the first one to try out.
Poured from bottle into a Chimay chalice.
A - Minimal head with larger bubbles, dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing. Head leaves lots to be desired. Am quite disappointed with this aspect. Decent color actually, if a bit on the orange/copper side. Mostly clear, only a slight bit hazy.
S - Citrus, banana, white pepper nose. Some bready yeast and malts follow. Slight alcohol nuances. This is perhaps the best aspect!
T - Only decent as far as tripels go, at least in my book. Maybe a bit more hops up front than I was expecting but some sweet malty tones quickly rush in. Good fruits halfway through - maybe apricot? Finishes balanced but there's something right at the end that I'm not keen on...astringent...aluminium...something a bit off, relative to my Tripel benchmarks.
M - Thinner than I like for the style, and while the carbonation level seems just right, it feels like big airly bubbles rather than tiny little bubbles, so the creaminess effect isn't acheived here. A bit sweet and cloying at the end. This is the weakest aspect of the beer.
D - Just ok. On balance, it's not bad, but not great. I wouldn't drink more than one in a sitting, as I'd get bored with this... not the case with other Tripels

Tasting at the brewery from their first Throw Back Thursday pilot batch, where they bring back retired beers for tasting/growlers, and a pour from a 64 oz. growler into a HS Teku
A: Golden straw color with a minimal head.
S: Classic Belgian yeast and bread notes.
T: Interesting honey notes and bit of spice to it. Damn decent tripel, that is a solid take on the style.
M: Nice bit of carbonation that is a bit foamy.
O: I don't know how the old mass production batch was like, but this was good as a pilot batch.
