Pours a full orange umber auburn color with nice lacing carbonation and a thin film head throughout the brew.
This has a subtle smell of slight citrus, hops and some toasty sweetness.
Hops start this off, but aren't obliterating like some Stone brews or other DIPAs but nicely balanced with a deep malt sweetness that has some caramel, plum, slight hints of dark fruits, alcohol. There is a small toasty flavor throughout that is most likely the maltiness and alcohol blend. Despite tasting the alcohol, its not totally overpowering and is well blended together with the hops and malt, with some undertone of dark fruits, and a little citrus.
Its a full mouthfeel with a medium aftertaste that's quite pleasant.
Nicely done, would prefer it slightly more hoppy, but that's why its a imperial 'pale' ale!
Cheers!

Poured bottle into a standard pint glass.
Bright thin head that dissapated quickly, leaving a nice lacey ring around the glass.
Golden amber color thats almost clear.
Defintiely captured the Malty smell, not so much on the pine and citrus that others have noted (maybe the bottle is a bit old?)
Very malty initial taste with a nice level of bitterness. Was hoping for a bit more of the citrusy notes.
Great creamy mouthfeel. Would never have guessed the higher abv...
Good early evening starter!

Poured into a snifter.
A: Slightly hazy golden copper color with one-finger, foamy, creamy, off-white head that lasted a couple minutes and left a nice film. Fantastic lacing.
S: Caramel malt. Pine and citrus.
T: Moderate sweetness and moderate bitterness. Caramel malt, pine and citrus, like the nose. Alchohol was mostly unnoticable which was surprising.
M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Crisp and slightly dry.
O: A good imperial IPA. High ABV, but you couldn't tell from drinking it.
