This pours a light head, a dark, black beer with a reddish hue, not opaque. Smells of burnt grains, can't pick up on much more. I've got to say that darker beers are not usually my favorite, so I was hesitant about this one, but it really impressed me.
Burnt grain flavor, and a good combination of chocolate. No over powering flavors, a very balanced beer. The bittering hops match the malt characteristics perfectly to have both of them present while not making them over powering. No shocking or overwhelming flavors to grab your attention, just enough to let you know they're there without taking away the drinkability of the beer.
Great beer, will buy again.

Those brown and dark red colors. Off white head 1/2". A lot more roast in the nose than I saw coming.
Taste, still more roast, coffee from the malt flavors. Nutty, caramel, toffee, coffee. Hopping is there too. A little dry finish. Not bad stuff. Assertive and bitter with all that other stuff going on. There's a bit of a scotch ale vibe going on underneath it all as well.
