Bright tawny amber with an impressive head retention, stellar stickage and the foam takes forever to subside. Hell the lace holds to the glass almost all the way down!
Aromatic mix of citrusy hop and buttery diacetyl. More hop in the nose though and fresh at that, this is obvious dry-hopping if you have never had a dry hopped beer before.
Moderate body with a well structured mouth feel. Mouthful of cascade hops, not all bitterness just a heavy hand of citrusy flavour. Bitterness is there and quite ample. Maltiness is underneath with a base of sweet grain that more or less gets clouded out by the fresh hop flavour. Puckering dry finish.
This is perhaps my favourite of the Flying Dog brand and definitely a beer I will be trying to have in the fridge for a nice hop fix here and there.

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. No freshess date.
Appearance: Pours an impressive orangey/dark amber beer and a very decent creamy foam head with incredible stick and stay. The beer is truck with chill haze though.
Smell: Malty, floral hops and a touch of citrus fruitiness.
Taste: Taste and feel are even, but a bit thin, not in a bad way mind you, but it's still thin. Mega-dextriny (from the Carastan malts?) with a nice hop presence that pulls you gently into its soft Cascade hopland. You can tell that this beer has been dry-hopped. Hops go raw and coarse, citrus salty rind-like. Earthy, woody notes. Thin fruity/grape flavour, followed by a bready malt character that runs into the finish, along with more dextrins.
Notes: I think the name and label has made this beer something more than it is ... it's not the best Pale Ale in the world, just above average IMO, but it certainly does the trick.

First time having the new recipe. On tap at Big Hunt.
Pours a hazy copper color. Ok carbonation with a thin layer of off white head.
Smell of caramel malts and sweet hops. Citrus and floral notes come through.
Flavors come through more than the smell lets on. Not as bitter as I expected for a pale ale, but refreshing. I get zero roastiness that others describe from the bottle.
Creamy up front, but the bitterness never develops on the finish.
Overall, this is a good beer, not great. Didn't notice a big change in recipe, but I don't think the changes hurt it.
