One of the "1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die" beers -- the third one I've reviewed.

Very nice appearance, looks something like a good ESB, with a dark, rich golden-brown color and a head that, while not really fluffy or resilient, sort of hangs on like trooper in the glass.

It doesn't really smell like "banana bread" -- it straight up smells like ripe bananas, which is a bit odd but certainly distinctive and actually, to be honest, fairly appetizing aroma. it also doesn't really taste like banana bread so much as a grainy mash overtop which somebody smeared some ripe bananas. A better comparison might be something like "bananas smeared on a whole grain unsalted cracker", which sounds kind of gross but actually tastes better than it sounds. (Only falls apart a little on the finish, I think, which is all sharp grain and could've used a little more banana.)

I don't know if I'd exactly make tracks to go out and seek this again, but if you're curious if bananas and beer go together, well, it turns out they can, kinda sorta.
