I tried this beer on draught on May 27, 2011 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer was poured a translucent orange-gold with a creamy off-white head. The aroma was citrusy hops, grainy malt, and pine. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. The flavour was very bitter, with a citrus rind taste. Maybe too bitter.

reviewed from notes, on cask at volo

hazy orange, soapy white head that was minimal but had decent retention, no lacing left. Smell is failry hop forward, citrus, tangerine and mild hints of grapefruit come and go. taste is fairly dry, nice bitter hop, more pine than citrus but orange and tangerine are there. Mouthfell is a little thin and lacks a little in body, med. carb thats quite nice. Not bad overall a little off balance but still good.

Beer is light amber in colour, with a thin white head.

Smell is faint but pleasant. Hops are noticeable, and a pine scent. Rather floral. The hop smell is nicely balanced by a malty sweetness that is quite pleasant.

The hops are noticeable in the taste, but far from overpowering. Certainly not an overly bitter beer. The finish is quite dry, and is where the bitterness is most pronounced. The pine flavour is quite pronounced, and leaves a bit of a tingle in the mouth. A slight caramel flavour becomes more noticeable as I drink.

Beer is medium bodied, and quite heavily carbonated. Carbonation is a little much, and is slightly irritating. However, the body of the beer is very nice, and generally feels quite good.

Overall, an enjoyable beer, but not particularly exciting. I would be happy to have it again, but wouldn't go out of my way for one.

On tap at C'est What, pint glass.

Pours a straight orange, with some slight amber shades to it. Creamy and dense white head, some carbonation visible in the body; filtered. Fantastic lacing. Nose of oranges and some pine, not a lot else, fairly hoppy. Taste starts again with some orange and tangerine notes, very hop forward. Mouthfeel is short and quick, and bitterness strikes right off the bat. Almost harsh at times. Needs a bit more body and mouthfeel. Bitterness lingers, no real notes of the alcohol. Medium-high carbonation. Somewhat tasty overall, but definitely needs some tweaking. Revisited the Smashbomb right after this pint, and the separation between the two was quite evident.

Pint at C'Est What. Clear orangey hue with hints of red delicious, finger of head.

Nose is floral and citrus hopping, lightly sweet caramel malt body. Little light on the aroma hopping. Floral, light orange rind, pine, grapefruit, perhaps touch of tropical fruits in the flavor. Certainly not West Coast style but tasty, drinkable, light bitterness in the finish - server described as IPA but it's certainly not in that range. With 6.7% ABV though it's a little big for an APA - guess it's somewhere in the middle.

As an IPA I would want a little more bitterness. As whatever it is I would love some depth in the aroma hopping. Still, drinkable and pretty well hopped for an Ontario APA - along with Augusta Ale, two nice additions in the category.

Worth a try, harsh finish.
Consumer detailed tasting notes: I opted out of the consumer tasting panel to get up and drink other notes, I paid for my half pint. Foamy pour, orangey coloured body. Mildly hoppy aroma. Good start, with surprising IBU but finishes harsh.Also ran to the style.
