Tried this last week in Bocas Del Toro, Panama.
Beer has a very light appearance, clear and a faint straw gold color.
Noticed very little aromas, nothing bad, but really nothing standing out at all. Maybe a slight yeasty bread like quality... but it's faint.
Taste is very bland, and I notice a lot of adjuncts, mostly a corn like quality. Beer does have a bit of a crisp dry quality that is it's only saving grace.
Mouthfeel is watered down.
No thanks, I had one, and that was plenty.

A real nostalgia beer. If you went to Panama, you drank Atlas or Balboa. Atlas is the lesser of these two.

This is the last review of crappy beer I drank on my recent two week trip to South American and the Caribbean. There was one good beer in there (Ironshore Bock in the Cayman Islands), but this one was another loser, as expected.
But it was not a bummer to drink. I had it in the street in front of a little shop in the old city section of Panama City, Panama. It was cheap - way less than a dollar, and when you are on a cruise, anything under $4 is a deal. It is hot in Panama, but really it was not that hot a day, but the beer was very refreshing.
It had no character, though. Typical American style crap. I wonder if they will ever figure out that tourists would love some good beer. Maybe the natives need to want it first, they are probably the primary consumers of this.
