One of the better selections in central ct, made a stop here a few months ago. I picked up a sixer of smutty ipa and a bottle opener and something else worth a few dimes. Anyway, the total came to 9 and some change and I was not allowed to use my card. I had not met the $10 min.The manager on duty would not lift the policy. She said that I could buy a nip on the wall to make up the dollar. I had been there every week since I could remember. I have not been back there after that.
I hope everyone else has good service here.

This was our first stop on the way to EBF. Thanks to naproxen and ineedabeerhere for the recommendation. This is a rather large store. There are coolers running just about the entire length of the back wall. Here you will find a great selection of cold sixers, bombers (a large variety of Berkshire), and pre-filled growlers from Berkshire, Opa Opa, etc. The warm beer selection takes up both sides of a full aisle. It looks like just about any beer that is available in CT is represented here. I saw a few bottles past their prime, but this was an exception, not a rule. While facing the coolers, walk to your left and you will come to a a few shelves with single 12oz. bottles that you can mix-n-match into a six pack. Except for the friendly and prompt service at the register, service was non existent. Emplyees stocking the shelves walked past us many times and did not ask if we needed help one time. Prices seemed reasonable.

WOW! either this place has changed or i was not able to comprehend the layout on my first trip.
this place has a great selection of american micros, germans, belgians, and even glassware (a rare thing for this area). the service is helpful but not intrusive, and the shelves are well-stocked.
my only negative (points down in service) is the arrangement of the beer. obviously, the beer business expanded here, which took up the ends of each row of shelving instead of being assigned its own row to keep everything together. sure, it's neat to follow the path to see what gems will be on the next aisle, but somewhat confusing.
good selection also of make-your-own-sixer beers.
i left here with a Talon Barleywine, a Corsendonk Xmas, and a new oversized Duvel tulip glass.

Nice clean place with a good selection of wines, liquors, champagne, etc. If you make your way to the back the real fun begins with an extensive selection of bottled beers. Somewhat broken down by region but sometimes haphazard it's quite a find in central CT. The selection is almost as good as some places in Southern MA or my old grounds in MN.
I last picked up Traquair, Rogue, St. Peters, and Liefman's for reasonable prices. They also have plenty of locals, many North American micros, and some glassware scattered about.
Reasonable pricing given this is CT and everything costs more.

Staying in CT on business so I decided to shop this store and select a beer for the evening. Nice selection. Huge 100ft back wall of coolers. Sadly most of the space is given to the macros & six packs. 98% of the bomber selection is in one of the aisles. All of the basic Craft items. Also a decent aisle of imports to peruse. I asked a question of a gentlemen (staff) in the aisle and was given a basic answer. Nothing wrong, but nothing special either.
This is a good store to visit if you live in the area, probably not one to seek out. Again, I realize I am spoiled by my local stores in Boston.
Good spot, I will stop again when in the area.

A suggested stop by clockworkorange via naproxen.
A large store with wine/liquor on one side with an extensive beer selection in along the back (cold) and the left side of the store.I would bet that just about any brand/beer available in CT is here. The selection is somewhat mind numbing! Most things seemed well taken care of save a few dusty import bottles.
Service at the register was friendly, sure they are taking my money, but floor service was non-existent. Many times employees stocking walked right past us and never uttered a peep about help.
All in all a worthy stop...I really dont need help looking for beer anyways! Prices seemed reasonable and I sure I will return if in the area.

Great selection indeed. Now carries SixPoint brews!
Great wine and beer selections. Staff seems pretty focused on wine but the beer selection is great. This includes both shelves and coolers. A place if you want Stone, He'Brew, Alagash, Dogfish, SixPoint, NE Brewing, Element, plus a huge selection of euros.
Happy hunting!
Staff is courteous, but it looks like only late-teenage girls are allowed to run cashier... a little pricey as well.
Overall, this is worth becoming your regular if you live nearby, and if not, a place to stop to prepare for the right occasions.
Cheers.

Stopped here while in CT on business on Aug 24, 2005. There was a sign inside advertising the large selection of Belgians. I agree that there were many Belgians, but the selection was nowhere near as good as offered by Mountview in CT!
Overall, pretty good selection, but I can find better in most major cities. Seems like this is the best you can find in East Hartford... Noticably, I saw 11.2 oz bottles of La Chouffe and Mc Chouffe in BROWN bottles. This was nice because I often get skunky Chouffe when I buy it in the GREEN bottles that are all I can find in Ohio. Normally they're skunked by light.

This is one of the best places for unusual import beer in the state.
The place is located down the street from the mall area, in a decaying plaza across from the Honda dealership.
Walking inside, most of the store is devoted to wine. However, most of the back wall, which is almost all coolers, and the entire side wall are dedicated to beer. The coolers contain most any american craft beer available in CT, and you can take singles. They sell most, if not all, beers from CT breweries. The side wall is where my interest usually lies, because it's a full wall of imported specialty beer. The beer is organized by country, starting with Poland and ending with Belgium. Beers from Russia, Ukraine, England, India, Germany, Czech Republic, and pretty much anywhere else. They stock a lot of hard to find brews, including Hercule imperial stout and Pitchfork bitter, with an extensive german and belgian selection, plus a couple english bottle conditioned real ales I can't find anywhere else. I come here often. I think it's one of the best places in the state, and it's close to home.
The staff is always helpful, and the beer guy always gets new stuff. If i want something, he'll order it for me. He knows his stuff, and definitely likes beer. On at least one occasion, the owner called up a distributor to have them bring a beer for me with the next truck. I was definitely grateful.
Prices are very reasonable, and I can always walk out of this place with a couple imported beers I've never heard of before. The belgian selection changes all the time, in particular, with a couple new beers replacing ones they sold out. It's a cool system. If you want more of the beer they ran out of, they'll order it specifically for you.
Definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Connecticut.

Just happened to find this place on BeerAdvocate so I figured I'd check it out while in the area. Looks to be a rather new store. This place is huge. Straight back from where you enter the store are well stocked beer coolers. Everything from BMC to tons of craft beer. Clipper City, Dogfish, Southampton, Flying Dog (picked up a 4 pack of Gonzo Imperial Porter), Rogue , and Smuttynose. I couldn't even begin to list the selection that this place has. At the end of the coolers there is a build your own six pack area with a damn good selection in it. Next to that is a ton of mixed belgians. Orval, Achel, Rochefort, Achouffe, Urthel. The list goes on and on. Acrossed from that is a large shelf of american craft beer. There are singles, 12oz. , 22oz, 750's Tons of six packs . Large selection on this shelf. And everything is in perfect order. The rows of bottles are straight and neat. Further up is a large shelf of Polish and russian beers. Large section of english brews as well . Prices were reasonable, the help was courteous and kind. Great selection. Don't miss this store if you're in the area.
