Had this beverage on tap at the local irish pub. Poured into a pint glass and left a two finger white head that leaves lace and lasts for the duration.
Has a less than aromatic smell and the has a bitter metallic taste. I did chug it down but near painful at the end. I would not recomend this beer.

From notes. Poured into a pint at Elephant and Castle in Grove City, PA. Paired with fish n chips. Nice copper color and one finger head. It may have been the atmosphere but this is exactly how I wanted my brew to look. The aroma was nice and clean with a malt base and a kiss of hops. Body was medium and the mouthfeel was extremely creamy. Is the draft version nitro? Washed down my fish n chips quite well. Is it fantastic? No. Is it cool to have at a pretend English Pub? Yes, for me it was.

Boddingtons never fails. and never really impresses all that much either. A wheaty, corny caramel hue, active carbonation keeps a frothy white foam up top for a bit leaving dabbles of lacing.
aroma is meager. hints of bread, yeasty dough, caramel malt and some hops show through with herbal notes, significantly more than from the can.
Taste, not surprisingly, follows suit. bready, earthy, yeasty. caramel and light toffee sweetness intermingle with an almost surprising bit of herbal hopping. tastes veggie and green, maybe a touch mineraly.
the mouthfeel of boddingtons on tap is always impressive. full, creamy and thick without being syrupy or slick. hits the spot.
Boddingtons in a can is alright. Boddingtons on tap is pretty decent. A solid English pale, if a bit light and occasionally watery in taste. In an english pub with few options, if I'm not in the mood for a guinness, I usually turn to Boddingtons. and I can't say I'm ever disappointed. Goes down smooth and definitely works nicely with food. I wouldn't seek it out, but sometimes, it hits the spot perfectly.

Served on tap, into an imperial pint.
A: Clear yellow, not very appealing since it looked like a urine sample. Great cream head saved the appearance for me. Head stuck around literally until the last drink. Left heavy lacing.
S: Almost no smell at all. Maybe some malts and a little bit of fruit but you have to get pretty close to smell anything.
T: Not great, not awful. Really simple, a little watery, malts, bitter finish.
M: Incredibly smooth and creamy. No perceptible carbonation.
D: Very drinkable and light.
This isn't the best beer I've had, but it's not the worst either. Average, that's the best description. I won't go looking for this one, but if there wasn't anything else offered I wouldn't mind having another one.

6 out of 10 stars -
The nose of the beer can be described as mild, hoppy, and nutty. I'm occasionally convinced that it smells like bile or vomit, but that might be a psychosomatic response to the number of times I've been sick after drinking too many of them.
Mouthfeel is very creamy, almost like a smoothie.
Taste is mildly bitter, slightly sweet taste - a very mild ale with toasted malt overtones and a bit of caramel.
Boddingtons is great as a mixer in Shandies (beer and soda/juice), especially the Radler. We love Boddy's - it's one of our favorite pub crawl beers.

Had this on tap last night.
A: An awesome white 2 1/2 finger head lasted 4 minutes, this is one if it's best features. After that a 1 finger head remained just about until I was at the bottom of the glass. The beer is a nice golden yellow.
S: Some English hops come through but not much else.
T: Creamy at first that fades to a crisp, dry, slight bitter and grainy finish.
B:Medium body with slighty higher carbonation than I'd like.
D: I could tolerate a few of these, but not my session pick.

Pours a hazy and cloudy yellow - living up to the bees on front. Creamy white head pleasant enough.
Smell is slightly grassy with faint honey notes and a slightly unpleasant sour undercurrent.
Taste is much the same - drinkable but slightly unpleasant. In all the beer went down ok with creamy mouthfeel and served at refreshing temperature but wont go there again.

Had on tap at the Cock and Bull in Covington, KY.
Appearance: Deep yellow, big head. So yellow it almost looked artificial. No lacing.
Nose: Metallic. That was the initial aroma. Behind that, lemon. Smelled pretty bad.
Taste: Not much. Metallic, lemony. Maybe a little bit of grassy hops.
Mouth: Fat and wet. Not very carbonated. Like drinking a watered doen milkshake.
Drinkibility: Low. I've had this in cans and now on tap and there are few differences. I won't drink this again.

A - clear golden with an amazing stout lasting foam.
S - smelt Luke cheap domestic.
T - super lite. Almost watery. The bar maid was wrong on this one. She must like very lite brews.
M - almost unnoticed. Bland.
D - like glasses of water, why bother? This is easily drinkable, but not worth paying for.

Appearance: Has a golden color that is crystal clear. Had a fair head to it.
Smell: Kind of bland. Nothing too impressive. There was a little bit of malt aroma, but not much.
Taste: Has a bit of malt, but had no bitter kick. It almost seemed a bit watered down. Not much flavor.
Mouthfeel: Very thin and watery.
Drinkability: It's not horrible. But this is not something I think I would get again.

A: Pours a nice slightly-clouded pale straw color that produces an AWESOME guinness-style head that looks very thick and creamy. So far so good.
S: Eh, a little plain. Lactose is pretty aggressive, giving it that creamy sweet note. I cant find the malts or the hops...which is weird because I do not know if this brew is entirely lactose
T: Lactose is dominant. Very sweet flavor profile, slightly malty backbone
MF/D: The mouthfeel is awesome...chewy, thick, oily. Nice finish as well. Not exactly my cup, but I can see why people would like this one

Tried this beer in a restaurant that had it on tap. It has a nice appearance, creamy white head and amber body. Aroma-wise it is is quite subtle, perhaps floral, as someone has commented before.
It has a bitter taste to it but not overly so such as with Guinness. (I do like my Guinness as well) I didn't really experience the metallic aftertaste but then again, I had it on tap rather than from the can. Very smooth and creamy going down.
For myself, this is a good session beer at 4.7% and very thirst quenching on a hot summer's day.

Pours red with a good head that retains well.
This, like many other beers in the nitro cans, has very low carbonation which serves to increase drinkability and enchance the flavors (so I think).
It's very smooth and creamy with a heavy mouthfeel. The body is of full, creamy malt. This gives way to a fairly bitter finish, which actually seems to intensify more and more after the swallow.
Before I started drinking these types of beer, I absolutely despised this. Now, I really appreciate it. It goes down easy, has a good balance between thick malt and lingering bitterness, and is a mainstay for me.

This one's on tap at The Claddagh in Franklin Park. Notes are from 6/02/09.
The color is a nice clear, bright amber. I don't get the nice head and lacing I got from the nitro can. An uncomplicated blend of mild bitter hops and light malt are on the nose. The taste is light herbal citrus hops with a light bitterness and grains. Malt is somewhat shy but does make an appearance. There's a slight metallic / astringent tint to this as well. These end up marring an otherwise pleasant finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin and light-bodied, and this one loses the extreme smoothness and creaminess the nitro can gave it. This is one to try, but It's nothing spectacular.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass.
The color is a clear straw-yellow with a godd size foamy white head. No lacing.
The smell is bitter with some slight hop flavor and a bit tea leaf, and a buttery mix as well.
The taste is a earthy, a bit smooth and has abuttery malt feel as well as a slight bitterness to it as well.
This beer was light bodies but crisp and a creamy smooth. A pretty easy drinking english bitter.

Appearance is gold with a thick white head.
Aroma: Some malts, I guess, but this is really mild. I don't get much from it
Taste: Fairly simple. It follows the aroma..its somewhat malty, if anything. Its got a little bitterness from hops going down, but again, not that much. Its very basic (not that theres anything wrong with that)
Mouthfeel: Creamy and goes down well
Drinkability: Taste is ok with a decent mouthfeel..but its nothing to rave about

I had this on-tap at Flip and Bailey's in Rosemont, PA where it came in a pint glass.
Appearance: The body is a clear golden color with a fizzy white, large head. There was good retention as well as a bit of pretty lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell: The aroma is mostly sweet with bitter hops in as well.
Taste: The overwhelmingly dominate flavor is malted cigarettes. This wasn't as bad as it sounds, but it is what I tasted.
Mouthfeel: This is a very thick and smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: I thought this is a very quaff-able ale.
Don't drink and review.

P- Gilligans in Harrisburg.
from notes:
A- A hell of a frothy foamy head. Stays the whole time i drink the beer. Love the head! A dark yellow with pale gold color. nothing to fancy.
S- nothing to much of a smell. Some faint hints of fruity esters but mainly a metal or steel type of smell.
T- a vinegar malt type of taste with combinations of bitter hops and fruit.
M- watery and somewhat stainless steel. Somewhat smooth but not as crisp and fresh as one would like.
D- a nice beer to have as a change up but nothing purchase worthy.

On-tap at Claddagh Restaurant in Geneva, IL.
Appearance - A very nice looking beer. I wouldn't describe this as amber, maybe the best descriptor would be that of golden wheat. Head was about a quarter-inch that disipated to virtually nothing in about a minute.
Smell - Virtually no nose when served in the standard pint glass. Could detect a very slight grainy aroma.
Taste - Initially, this pint had virtually no taste. As the beer warmed there was a bit of fruitness, and I detected a slight buttery character with some musty graininess.
Mouthfeel - Very thin and I couldn't order another pint. I'm contemplating if this is a slow mover at this restaurant. Will have to seek out the draught cans and reevaluate.

Oh Boddington's. This is one of my favorite beers to have when served on tap. The can is so-so, but on tap, there's something about a lighter nitrogen beer that I can't quite resist. The thick white head sticks around for most of the beverage unlike most other beers, this perhaps traps some of the aroma in though, which is for the most part not really there at all. Other than the lack of aroma, there are no complaints on my end about it.

Boddingtons Pub Ale...
Appearance-pale golden color, large flowery head that stays thick.
Smell-malt and hop both appear, flowery, alcohol as well but subdued, very aromatic.
Taste/Mouthfeel-Light flavor, pungent balanced taste, refreshing off the top, grainy with a light fruitness, very smooth and tasty on the way down.
Drinkability-as advertised, a fantastic pub ale.
Overall-really enjoyed this on tap, flavorful compared to most English Pales but very drinkable.

Love this beer. A bit of a more mass-produced beer but none-the-less a great drink. A great taste and a great drink. And not too heavy so there is no issue in not be able to drink plenty. Best out of the tap but the nitro-can is not a bad second option.

Appearance: Brilliantly clear honey (how appropriate) colored body. Very Creamy head and appearance
Aroma: Clean and crisp with roasted malt and hints of a floral, hoppy bitterness. A little thin, to be sure.
Taste: Bitter up front with some dry, roasty malt flavors in the back. At times, you can pick up a juicy, fruity sweetness that reminds me of British wine gums. A nice combination, but nothing that's going to change your world.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, creamy, and soft - when I think of an exceptionally creamy beer, this immediately springs to mind. The aftertaste is bitter.
Drinkability: While bitter, the alcohol content is relativity low, so if it suits your taste you can drink this all night (much like Guinness).

Despite other reviews, I found this beer to be an exceptional antithesis of the flavor-exploding beers in large production these days. I've had Boddingtons a number of times over the past two months, in cans and from tap at the Flying Saucer in Austin Texas, and I'm always excited to rely on it as an incredibly drinkable, low-gravity beer with delicate hints of sweet corn, and even, light banana on the after taste. Its nose isn't incredibly pronounced, but is reflective of the subtle flavors within. The carbonation is nice and frothy and melts away quickly like the much wider known Guinness brews, leaving a creamy smoothness on the palate after a sip. For those who want a great beer to drink during events that you wouldn't normally want high-gravity (movies, football games, socials with important guests that you cant turn into a drunken ass in front of) then Boddington's Pub Ale is for you. Cheers!
