12oz bottle poured into a large snifter. This beer pours dark brown, oh-so-close to black. A large, voluptuous head rises up from the pour. Two toned in color, mocha and caramel; the head is thick and viscous looking. After a few minutes the head retreats to nothing more than a thin coating over the surface. Really nice looking brew. Nice soapy lacing is left all of the sides of the glass with a good swirl.

Nose is chock full of coffee; bitter dark roasted coffee, but not overpowering stuff. This is how a coffee stout should smell. Roasted grains, baker's chocolate, dark malts, espresso and faint alcohol are also noticed.

Taste is right along the same lines as the nose on this one. Coffee dominates with faint chocolate, dark fruits and a nice earthiness takes over. Faint smoky flavor lingers in the background with wood tenors and more slightly acidic coffee grounds. Yum.

The mouthfeel is where this beer falls slightly short for me. It is a little thin for the style but I suppose this makes it more drinkable. Prickly carbonation is satisfying and again adds to its drinkability.
