12oz bottle - 2009 vintage - Poured into my Central Waters pint glass...

Pours a murky, cloudy dark brown with crimson edges, some floaties...two fingers of light tan head forms and recedes quickly into a thin cap of haze...

One of the few coffee inspired beers that ever smelled good to me...this one actually smells like fresh brewed coffee, as opposed to cold, stale, old coffee like most other stouts...rounded out by roasted malts, some plain bagel aroma and a tiny bit of sweet chocolate...

Bitter, dark roasted strong coffee dominates as expected. Some sweet chocolate hits pretty hard at first but is quickly washed away by a bitter coffee taste. Some of the alcohol shows up after a few sips, giving this one a bit of a bite...

Thank God, finally a [non-imperial] stout that isn't watery thin...thick and chewy, nice.

I do not like stouts, but I liked this one, that says something...honestly the only [non-imperial] stout I can remember really enjoying...
