Pours a dark brown body witha foamy latte-foam colored head of about 1 1/2 fingers. Hard to see much light through it.

"Boozy" nose with notes of chocolate and dark toffee sweetness. Slight coffee roast also there, but the sweetness definitely overwhelms this one.

Not as sweet on the sip as first thought. Actually more coffee-like than expected. A toffee and nuttiness also comes to the palate very smoothly. Some booze on the tongue as well. Less chocolate than expected as well. The nose does not match the taste for the most part, which is very interesting to me.

Full-bodied beer with a nice smooth sip with the appearance of some booze on the tongue, but overall, it is as smooth as they advertise...like satin.

Overall, this is definitely a keeper! Solid brew from a brewery I've never heard of until now. Very nice offering for a very cold East-Coast winter eve.

April 2012. 12 oz bottle into a teku glass. Pours a near black body, some light gets through the edges showing a dark brown body. One finger of khaki foam. Decent lacing. Loads of chocolate and some subtle vanilla on the nose. Light char and some alcohol. Pretty basic but it does smell quite hefty. Taste is of rich chocolate, chalky cocoa powder and some bitter roasted malts. Mouth feel is a bit thin but creamy enough. A pretty average but tasty stout that has held up quite well with some age on it.

August 2012 bottle, tasted April 2013

A: Very dark brown, almost black, with a two fingered tan head that quickly recedes.

S: Roasted malts, chocolate with hints of vanilla. There's also some hints of alcohol.

T: Initially it's strong with chocolate and caramel, but that ends pretty quickly and you get very strong roasted malt flavors with just a hint of the prior sweetness remaining.

M: Nice carbonation, it feels very light for being a stout.

O: Overall I like it quite a bit. If the finish wasn't quite so roasty, I'd like it even more, but it's a very good beer that I'll certainly look for when the winter comes around.
