Poured into my Star Hill Brewery pint glass. Had a very dark mahogany color with a one finger head that quickly dissipated to a good layer of lace. The aroma was predominately toffee. The taste was an initial heavy toffee, followed by ethanol and then roasted grain. I found the pattern to be interesting and complex. Slightly sweet, but not syrupy....Good on a cold winter night.

April 2012. 12 oz bottle into a teku glass. Pours a near black body, some light gets through the edges showing a dark brown body. One finger of khaki foam. Decent lacing. Loads of chocolate and some subtle vanilla on the nose. Light char and some alcohol. Pretty basic but it does smell quite hefty. Taste is of rich chocolate, chalky cocoa powder and some bitter roasted malts. Mouth feel is a bit thin but creamy enough. A pretty average but tasty stout that has held up quite well with some age on it.

August 2012 bottle, tasted April 2013
A: Very dark brown, almost black, with a two fingered tan head that quickly recedes.
S: Roasted malts, chocolate with hints of vanilla. There's also some hints of alcohol.
T: Initially it's strong with chocolate and caramel, but that ends pretty quickly and you get very strong roasted malt flavors with just a hint of the prior sweetness remaining.
M: Nice carbonation, it feels very light for being a stout.
O: Overall I like it quite a bit. If the finish wasn't quite so roasty, I'd like it even more, but it's a very good beer that I'll certainly look for when the winter comes around.
