I poured this one from a 750ml brown bottle into a stemmed tulip glass. Thanks to the almighty BA everetends for this one!
A= This ale poured a hazy orange gold color with lively 1" head. The head dropped to a thin layer, and left tons of wispy lace down my glass.
S= Lots of interesting things going on here. I found the scent of wheat malt underneath big citrusy hop aromas of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and lemon.
T= The wheat added a subtle malty twang and there was also some bready malt flavor initially, but this was soon swallowed up by the hops - my God the hops! The hops were somehow hugely overpowering and incredibly wonderful all at the same time. Bitterness was firm but not crazy. Hop flavors were off the charts delicious, with all sorts of citrus and tropical fruit notes present. Finish was bitter and medium dry.
MF= Medium bodied with a medium+ carbonation level.
D= This beer really took me by surprise. I think that the "wheatwine" style is still very open to interpretation and this is a hell of an example. The hop flavor was huge but never too much. Bitterness just right. Dangerously drinkable for the ABV. I want more!!!

A- pours a very cloudy, hazy golden apricot color with a fluffy dense off white head, Aside from the very cloudy, yeasty appearance, good looking beer
S-chewy candied lemons, with a heavy, still ominous wheat presence in the background. Still a lot of citrus on the nose
T-I remember this being like liking a lemon rind fresh. That flavor has since subsided a bit, with the wheat malt character becoming more front and center. There's just enough lemon flavor left to mask any alcohol notes.
M- A creamy body with medium carbonation leads this to be an easy drinker. Great job here
O- Though not as in your face as fresh, it has turned into a much more balanced beer, I'd even say it is more like a wheatwine now, than it was fresh. I'd drink this sooner rather than later as the lemon is fading a lot in the taste despite the nose holding up soo well.

750 mL bottle poured into a taster. Batch E!034.
Appearance - Hazy orange, no real head. Wispy surface and a collar of white foam.
Smell - Citrusy still. Doubt it's from hops at this point. Lots of that distinctive malt aroma that I find in barleywines like Bigfoot. Wheat back there too.
Taste - Much wheatier. Bright citrus. Wheat. Light caramel malt and some sweetness. Finishes with very little bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Getting old. Thinning out. Still carbonated.
Overall - Definitely getting old, but still decent. Tasty beer originally, but falling off now.

*my original notes got deleted just as I was about to hit submit and I couldn't find any way to recover them so this is from very recent memory but without the beer in front of me; the numerical scores remain identical*
I don't know when this was bottled as everything says it is a retired brew, first released in 2010, though my local shop, which tends to have a very good turnover, had this in their refrigerated section
750ml bottle poured into a snifter; lot E!036
A: Hazy burnt orange with a 1.5 finger head that settles to 1/2 finger
S: Lots of orange/lemon from the citrus peel with a bit of spices/earth and a caramel malt backbone
T: Quite a bit of citrus, primarily orange up front followed by a nice earthiness and a bit of malt; nice complexity
M: Medium-bodied, textured/complex and a very long finish
O: I really enjoyed this, overall it's a beer that makes you sit and contemplate the brew wile drinking it rather than gulp it. I will try to pick up the rest my local shop has as it claims it can age well and however old this is it tastes fresh; very enjoyable
