Pours a clear golden yellow, a hair brighter than a miller high life. Thin white head dissipates to a thick outer ring and a pond of froth on top.

Aroma is light, with faint citrus hops and very mild bready malt. A bit of orange, tangerine and lemon zest.
Flavor is heavy on the hops. A tongue filling blend of pine, mild mint leaves, grass, lime zest, grapefruit and tangerine. Balanced well despite an existing but nuetral 2 row like malt base. Vibrant flavor, well balanced.

Hop bitterness floods all parts of the tongue. Medium body, low carbonation.

A great ipa. Well balanced with a wide variety of hop flavor, medium bitterness and high drinkability despite its abv.

On tap at Ginger Man.

Beer is a transparent copper colour, with a moderately-sized white head.

Big nose: citrus focused, with lots of grapefruit. A bit of sweet malt.

Taste is soapy, with lots of citrus, predominantly grapefruit. Hops, hops an more hops. There is a bit of a malty backbone that gives some body, but not much malt flavour. A bit of bread. Fairly bitter.

Medium bodied, highly carbonated A bit oily.

Overall, quite good.

Maybe my batch was infected, because all I could taste and smell was kale. This beer was recommended to me by the bartender, and I assume she tasted it because she steered me away from another beer she felt was too weak and recommended this one. I guess there's a slight chance a wild yeast got in some time after she tried it and before I did, because this was not a pleasant experience at all.

Drove down to Mass to visit relatives:

At CBS Scene (Patriot Place):

In a pint glass:

A: clear light golden body with a one finger off-white head with light slowly moving streams of carbonation seen rising.

S: floral hops, a bit of grassiness, citrus and pine.

T: took those flavors and added a bit of back punch of malt as the beer warmed.

M: light and spritzy with an acceptable amount of harshness on the tongue due to the style, it had a dry and bitter finish.

O: this is good for me and good for the style.

a damn good ipa, one of the best out of new york state. the pour is akin to a fresh hop beer, golden honey in color with a little hazy and a delicate tan head thats short and lacey. the nose is tons of puckery grapefruit and some tropical fruit as well, but the flavor gives off some pine notes too in the hop complexion. this is a very refreshing ipa, fruity but not sweet, light malt keeps the hops on center stage. its really bitter in the finish, but more like a fruit bitter, sort of tart and almost caustic in that citric acid way, but the feel is in fact pretty smooth. youd never guess the abv until you drink a few and try to walk to the pisser. mild but adequate carbonation and only a medium body, this is dangerously poundable. i love the citrus element in the hops, its different and its delicious. ithacas best beer as far as i am concerned.

On tap at the Blind Tiger in Manhattan.

Amber color with thick white head that lingers well in pint.

Smell is as the name suggests, a floral car-bomb. Nice lemon, and mango notes.

Taste is lemon, mango and sweet malts. Good resinous hoppiness. Nice bitterness in finish. Not overpowering. Great balance.

Mouthfeel is smooth and mediun bodied with nice carbonation.

Overall this is almost perfect. Would love to see this in Mississippi.

On tap at Mug's.

Golden pour, plenty of thick, white head and lace. Strong retention for the style. Fruity hops and some pine greet my nose before each sip.

Taste is outstanding. Strongly hopped base is juicy as hell, nearly unmatched by any other Single IPA I've tried. Minimal pine, some bitterness at the end but (thankfully) there's no bite from the hops.

Body is creamy and viscous; best mouthfeel of the style IMO. When this stuff is fresh, it's phenomenal. And remember: I don't like Single IPAs! :)

On draught at Mad Mex, Flower Power is dark, dull gold with a small off-white collar leaving sticky, scattered lace.

Smell is pungent, bright NW hops, a nice balance of citrus and resin.

Taste is also pungently hoppy, heavier skewed to the pine than the nose. A bit hot, with a surprisingly firm malt backbone for the appearance, if not the cleanest - must be lots of cheap 2-row.

Mouthfeel is oily, medium bodied, drier.

Drinkability is pretty good. This taste pretty fresh, hop wise, and slakes my NW style IPA cravings well enough, but the somewhat dirty flavors of malt and fermentation lead me to believe this one would fall off in a hurry.

Had this great beer on tap at my house ( yes, really) and in a bottle.
A- pours a really nice yellow amber with a wonderful pillowy, fluffy white inch and 1/2 head!
S- smells of citrus and has a grassy clean smell as well.
T- wow! Hop forward with a nice citrus taste that lingers on the tongue and back of throat, very slight bready finish, amazing!!
M- feels clean and slippery
O- thought this was one of the better ipa's i have ever had. Just a well done beer. Was lucky enough to get a log of this for my kegerator and couldnt be happier ( or hoppier...sorry). Will always look for this beer when in the mood for an ipa.

A: Clear deep golden color with a thin off white head.

S: Big floral and citrus hops. Grapefruit and a touch of caramel as well.

T: One of the better IPAs I've had. Huge grapefruit pith, orange rind and pink grapefruit flesh with a nice caramel malt backbone. Finishes on a bitter but clean note. Extremely drinkable. I want a lot more of this.

On tap in a pint glass.

A- cloudy light golden-orange hue. The honey in this beer shows in the color, no 'IPA amber' color in this one. A fluffy one-finger head that really lasts, lots of sticky lacing.

S-grapefruit all the way. Flowery as well?

T-tart citrus punch from that grapefruit balanced with some malt and honey sweetness.

M-Very full body from good carbonation, a healthy 7.5% abv, and those balanced flavors.
The hops, citrus, and alcohol electrify the tongue.

O-I drove through three towns to taste this after a conversation with a bartender who tipped me off about the availability. Well worth the trip. And just in time - 3 pints and I kicked the keg. I did not drive home, by the way. A must have if you like this style.

Served on tap at Mugs Alehouse in Brooklyn, NY

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall white head that reduces by about 50% but the remainder is retained. Significant lacing is observed.

S: Lots of floral hops aromas with some more subtle hints of citrus and pine.

T: Slightly light in the flavor but there are a lot of floral hints and some notes of the citrus and pine hops as well. I would describe the flavor as refreshing.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Extremely easy to drink and very refreshing - definitely a session beer and one that we all often get when we go out and want something easy to find and dependable.

Poured from tap into pint.
Pours a slightly hazy golden, nice head and lacing.
Smells is very floral and piney hop.
Taste is smooth piney and floral hops. Nice hop bite. Nice balance with the malts.
Its slighty too bitter for my taste; well for me the bitterness is unbalanced with the rest of the brew.
Overall, its not the most amazing IPA, and not quite sure its worth all the hype it gets, but its solid and substantial.

Appearance is a a cloudy, tangerine color. A very unique color that you cannot see through at all. It poured with a 1/2 inch head that dissipated within a few minutes.

The smell is great! Hops first, then fruity, then malty. Really unique smell.

I taste a multitude of fruits in the beer. Like the smell, the hops are the first thing to strike the senses, but after that I taste the bitter, striking fruits like grapefruit and also the sweeter citrus fruits like oranges and clementines. Then this very smooth malt flavor rounds out each taste with a soft sweetness.

Mouthfeel is great. The carbonation is noticeably but not powerful at all.

Wow...really nice beer. Hoppy like a good IPA should be then really complex and unique with a mixture of bitter and sweet fruits, followed quickly by a soft, malty sweetness. I highly recommend this beer.

Sampled fresh at the brewery, this is an absolutely stunning American pale ale. The 7.5% ABV is dangerously well hidden, so I will have to be careful...

Appearance a clear golden-red amber with decent white head and lacing. Stunning pine & grapefruit aroma - pure "west coast" hops. The flavour is surprisingly well balanced, with sweet caramelized malts complementing the citrus hop zest. Ends with a lovely lingering hop finish...

All in all, an excellent beer. Wish they could pack this much flavour into something under 5% ABV!

Straw and honey appearance nice light head and perfect lacing as it recedes.

The extra love this beer gets is evident right away
serious dry hopping, huge citrus grapefruit bitters and
sticky resinous pine. 7 different hops all come through in layered effect.

My only complaint is mouth feel it was lighter than expected

Had on tap at Peculier Pub NYC

A: Golden and hazy, with a creamy, silky smooth, wonderful head that leaves an artistic lacing.

S: Hop and citrus notes. Very big hop notes(peach, tangerine, apricot)..

T: Like most IPA's the taste follows the nose. Big hop flavor, upfront and unapologetic. A different style of hop blend produces a effervescent, yet earthy hop profile. Grapefruit, tangerine, and clementine round out the hop character. Malt is here for a balance and really is hidden. Dry aftertaste.

M: Medium body, high carbonation, and very bitter.

O: Very nice IPA for a hop head. Has a dynamic blend of hops that does produce a sort of floral overtone, but not enough to name the beer flower power. I'd say the best you'd get in terms of flower aroma would be a dried out rose or lilly, bought at say, michaels or ac moore. I enjoyed the effort from a brewery I'll probably be seeing more of soon.

This is one of my favorite IPA’s and one that I have enjoyed many times from the bottle but had a chance to have this on tap and felt the need to review for that serving type despite the fact that it may soon be deleted. A tremendous beer is even better in its draft form! Deep burnished amber gold color, head on the smallish side without much retention, mild lacing.

I can smell this one from 3 feet away just sitting on the bar just redolent of floral hops, pine, and citrus. Ultra fresh and juicy. Lightly sweet but powerful and resiny up front.

Big time taste of fresh floral, herbal hops, again lots of pine, resins, citrus flavors. Plenty of grapefruit and pineapple but not totally citrus-forward. The name is fitting, as the floral notes definitely dominate. Just a touch of maltiness underneath but nothing too noticeable. The east coast answer to the west coast hop bombs.

Carbonation is medium to low and the body is on the fuller side; excellent creaminess, somewhat sticky, long aftertaste that’s both bitter and citric. Very pleasing mouthfeel.

I’m a huge fan of this one out of a fresh bottle and the draft version is even better. Not to be missed.

On tap, served in a tulip shaped pint glass. The brew appears a golden copper color with a creamy topping of off-white froth. The cap maintains fairly well and leaves a webby pattern of lacing effect on the glass.

The smell is juicy with citrus character from the good. Rindy almost like orange zest and grapefruit. A bit of herbal aspect gets grassy towards the back with some dank, weedy character that is lightly cheesy. Lightly fruity again as it starts to warm up.

The taste is oily with resinous hops that are moderately bitter. A touch of caramel to toffee tasting malt is present. Grapefruit zest and bitter rinds mix with some herbal component, grass and dank aspects just like the aroma indicated. There is a light musty quality about this brew as it warms up.

This is a medium bodied brew with a light level of carbonation. It is oily in the feel but contains a pleasant blend of hop character that kept me interested throughout the entire experience. Easy drinking with a low alcohol impact, I would have this again.

I had this on-tap at Capone's during the Black Friday event.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber that is on the lighter side. There is a layer of off white head that goes away almost completely.

Smell: Citrus peel hops. The hops smell very fresh. Mild amount of sweet malt.

Taste: Very fresh grassy citrus peel hops. Not a whole lot of malt here. The finish is quite bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with carbonation that is both tingly and smooth. The finish is dry.

Overall: I'm glad I got to try this really fresh. Just a tad more balance would have been fine with me.

Enjoyed on tap at Pizzeria Paradiso in DC, poured into a pint glass.

A: A light golden brown, just darker than straw. A thin one finger head hangs out briefly, but doesn't leave any lacing.

S: A nice mix of sweet citrus and fresh hops. Some floral notes are there, but citrus is the primary scent.

T: The taste is excellent for a single IPA. Great balance between sweet citrus and floral notes and light bitterness from the hops. Honestly, it tastes like you're sipping a flower. Many times, IPA are dominated by one hop flavor (be it grapefruit, pine, or another), but this is remarkably well-balanced. No hints of alcohol. Wonderful.

M: A fairly light beer, especially given the the 7.5% ABV. Fairly highly carbonated.

O: Good beer! Sometimes IPAs can let me down, but this one was nice. The floral notes are definitely somewhat unique to this beer, given the other IPAs I've enjoyed. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more Flower Power!

On-tap at Armsby Abbey.

Poured dark orange, nearly amber. Sticky white head retains pretty well and leaves good lacing.

Smell is a huge tropical bomb at first, does fade quite a bit with time, but still nice. Tropical, citrus, herbal.

Taste is great. Big tropical is the stand-out, mango, pineapple, apricot, orange goodness. Big earthiness there too. Lots of malt to balance, caramel and a bit toasty, if I had to knock it somewhere I'd say it's a bit too sweet for an IPA.

Smooth mouthfeel, drinks easy for 7.5%.

Awesome beer, the tropical notes compare to the almighty Sculpin, although this is much sweeter which kind of hurts it. Certainly one of the best $5 pints I've had in recent memory.

**10/13/11 - notes from bottle version**

Bought a 6-pack as soon as I saw it in MA, the best by notch was Jan. (3 months away). I'm not sure of the freshness but it was pretty different from the tap. Still big tropical but it was more bitter and piny, less bright fruit, which I actually liked a little because it toned down the sweetness. I thought it was great from the bottle but I thought the tap was a little better.

Stopped into DeCicco's in Brewster yesterday (26AUG11) on the way back from the Greenwood Lake Airshow. Opted for a couple of tulips of this offering to whet my hops hankering. A 14oz glass was $5.00.

My tulip held a clear, rich, golden liquid. A fair amount of carbo steadily rose to the surface, adding to a frothy, off-white 1/4" head. Attractive lacing clung to the sides of the drinking vessel. The aroma was robust and full of citrus, easily enticing the ol' olfactories. Medium-bodied, Flower Power was also relatively smooth across the tastebuds, showing little roughness while journeying south.

Some toasty malt is present, adding subtle sweetness to what amounts to a citrus-fest. Plenty of rindy, pithy hop flavors layer it on thick across the palate. These notes of grapefruit, tangerine and pine linger long after the liquid has passed the lips. Quite enjoyable! Prosit!!

Finally having this on tap.

A: Bright amber, nice cloudy white head, rings of lacing are quite thick.

S: Like walking through a garden, gigantic notes of floral hops, tons of pine, and even some citrus.

T: Hop domination continues, super bitter, slightly sweet malt backbone. Juicy grapefruit and flowers right off the stem.

M: One of the better carbonated IPAs out there, medium to full body, bitter all over.

O/D: You'll almost wince due to all the hops, but out of pleasure. One of the hoppiest, and enjoyable beers I've had on tap. I think I'm still tasting hops from it.
