Poured from bottle into pint glass. Dark brown with reddish hues; very thin head.

Interesting aroma; a bit sweet for a porter. Roasted malt, a bit of chocolate. Tastes a bit sweet too. Dry cocoa in the finish, along with a hint of smokiness.

Overall, a decent porter. Though there are better ones out there, like GL Edmund Fitzgerald, this one is still better than many of the thin and oversmoked offerings that clutter the market.

Pours a deep brown color with a wispy off-white head that settles into a light ring.

The aroma is of lightly toasted pumpernickle with a hint of smoke. The smoke isn't all that strong but it is a solid smoke note. Not much else in the nose.

The taste is of a buttery english porter with smoked malt. Toasted brown bread mixes with a buttery caramel sweetness. It is more caramel than butter, which is good. Light lemon and a general fruitiness. Typical porter. The smoke pops through here and there but its not dominate throughout the profile.

Moderate mouthfeel with enough carbonation to keep the malt honest. Sweet on the palate with enough of a roast bitterness to offset. Not exactly smooth, more crisp; easy to drink.

A decent smoked porter. Good starter for smoked newbies. I do prefer much more smoke than this and more of an earthy profile. However, this is a real easy drinker.

A-Black with a one finger tan head, clear brown around the edges

S-Good deal of smoke, not much roasted malt, leather, like sitting by a bonfire.

T-Starts with smoke and roasted malt, has some slight vanilla along with the leathery taste, no bitterness though.

M-Medium bodied, creamy, some carbonation.

O-Great balance out of a smoked beer. Others I've had are too smoke forward and they lose out on balance, this one however was well balanced.

A - Damn for a porter it's much too fizzy and carbonated. What little head I got 1/4 inch of mocha quickly fizzed to nothing but a light lace ring. Beer color is a nice viscous black.

S - Smell seems to be spot on with a great deep smoked malts and mild coffee's. Smell of smoke lingers on the nostrils.

T - Taste seems to balance the smoke well into the finish. Taste of the porter seems to be light despite the ABV and mostly sweet with mild chocolates and a touch of molasses. Not bad.

M - Medium bodied and somewhat creamy.

Overall not a bad smoked porter if it's anything it has more smoke flavor than the Stone "smoked porter" Very easy drinking for a smoked beer.
