look: 4 | smell: 1.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4.5
APPEARANCE: Solid reddish copper in color with a very good looking fluffy white head of big bubbles. A bit hazy. No retention.
SMELL: Not much nose, but what is detectable is malt and sweet brown sugar.
TASTE: Quite hoppy, even for a pale ale. While there is a hint of malt up front, it is quickly overwhelmed by the hops which remain throughout the sip. I saw in an earlier review someone mention that there is a spicy aftertaste and that is certainly true, although the spice seems to be present earlier as well.
MOUTHFEEL: Rich and a touch oily, this would make a fantastic beer for one of those freezing cold nights in Ithaca.
OVERALL: I've been surprised to see so many lower rated reviews. When I visited the brewery this was one of the highlights (to be fair, I really enjoyed most of their beer - I was very impressed). It is a bold and different take on the pale ale that just appeals to me. I like hops, I like spice and therefore, I like this beer. The only drawback is the near lack of a smell.

Looks, smells, and has the mouthfeel of a traditional Pale Ale, IMO. Has a nice citrusy forward bite which mellows slightly on the way down. There is a bitterness that pleases pale ale lovers but people who dont wont like it. Carbonation was fine and there was some lacing down the glass. I dont get much for malts or any sweetness like some reported. But, its a pale ale and I dont want that anyways. A solid choice for the style and its never expensive.
