Originating from Cologne (Köln), Germany, the Kölsch style is historically only brewed along the Rhine (Rhein) River. The style is so regional that Germans in other parts of the country may not even be able to get it. We brought the style here and added our own little bit of personality by making the traditionally 4.5% alcohol beer closer to 7%. This full flavored dreamy Kölsch will stand out from the rest with its strong pineapple-like aroma and complex fruity flavor.

Poured a bottle purchased yesterday at Finger Lakes Beverage Center into a pint glass from a fair height, getting nice fine creamy head that right away sank to a thin layer of tiny single bubbles that lasted about two minutes. The slightly turbid straw color's a 4 on my SRM chart, a good dirty cloudy unfiltered look. Tasted it at 50°F in a pretty chilly room.
Smells a bit like furniture polish, but in a healthy way: like an organic solvent you'd trust your brain to melt in.
Taste is wonderfully well-balanced, with yeast hitting first, malts cloaking the ethanol till a good bitter clean hide-tanning hop aftertaste hangs on after swallowing.
Mouthfeel is very German: microscopic fizz tongue coating that calls for a sourdough beer pretzel with cheese.
I like IPAs better than any other style, but this Ithaca version of Cologne-style brew could easily be my second most favorite. I've never tasted a Kölsch that I like this much; maybe because the lingering hops treat my tongue the way a good IPA does?

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pineapple, some floral notes. Taste is pineapple, malts, floral, some grains. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer, a bit too crushable for the abv.

Hazy kolsch unlike others I've had that are more crisp, but I love this one....has a very unique fruity taste and has a significant alcohol kick. I visited this brewery back in August and sampled many of this brewery's offerings....worth a stop!

pours slightly hazy yellow. nose is slightly fruity with ton of malt in there as well. minimal head. good full mouthfeel. taste is reminiscent of a good adjunct lager to me up front but mid to late palate things seem to come togeather and I get some subdued fruit maybe pineapple and some yeasty fruity prescence. malt is definetly apparent. finishes with fruity but maybe some floral or earthy notes. hmmm. this beer is pretty good. confusing to me a little. not really sure what to think. im not a kolsch fan but I like this. alcohol well hidden.

Much stronger than a kokch should be...but...nice.

Creamy mouthfeel....kinda boozy. An adjustment for sure. But overall I like it.

Kick down the abv and I'm all over this for a summer brew.
