I really like the coffee choice and hop component. I wish it had a little more ABV and more lactose. The bottles and six packs were not labeled with ABV and with a name like Super Stout I feel misled. They should have named it Sumatra session ale.

Super Stout pours a deep brown-black with a light hazel head. The coffee smells quite pleasant.
As befits an oatmeal stout, the beer is quite rich and creamy. The coffee presence is pronounced. While I like it, the coffee has a certain bitterness and strong acidity to it that has me running for Tums. Not necessarily a downside - at least it has dodged the green pepper taste of doom.
Pretty decent coffee stout - I like it.

F- brown sugar and coffee.
M- sweet and roasted caramel malts and creamy as well
O- a nice stout and creamy. Not as thick as i would have thought.

Opaque, brown beer with a two finger head. The head is very light and dissipates quickly while only leaving a ribbon or two of lacing behind. The aroma is sweet, roasted coffee with a hint of brown sugar. The taste is tangy, char and bitter coffee but not as sweet as the aroma would lead you to believe. A little light on the body for a stout and a moderate amount of carbonation. Not bad but is seems like a little body and sweetness would have balanced this out and made it a bit better for me.

I am continuing my latest horizontal as a part of the eradication of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody with this one, followed by about six more Ithaca offerings.
From the bottle: Nada. I am not a fan of their no longer putting the ABV on the labels. I dig the minimalist look of the new labels, but less is not always more.
I am kind of surprised by the relatively low ABV on this one, but as long as it is correct, it becomes the next one in ascending order.
I began with a Pop! of the cap and since the Stouts generally put on a good show, I went with a heavy-handed pour. Another surprise as I did not get as extended a pseudo-cascade as I usually do. Instead, two fingers of foamy, deep-tan/light-brown head formed briefly and quickly fell away. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose smelled of burnt charcoal, dark chocolate, light smoke and dark roasted coffee. Oh, man, I love to drink coffee in the morning! I am a retired U. S. Navy sailor & coffee was the fuel that kept us going. Navy Joe Coffee now offers JP-5 blend, an homage to jet fuel, just to give you an idea! Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite achieving creaminess, but coming pretty close. The taste was not quite as bitter as I expected from the inclusion of Sumatran coffee, but instead, it had a biscuity/bready quality, which combined with the dark chocolatiness, made me think of a rich, dark chocolate brownie! A brownie with coffee?!? I am sooo hungry all of a sudden! Finish was semi-sweet, a nice combination of bittersweet chocolate and dark roasted coffee. It would probably work best as a dessert beer, but since I am a hophead and not a Stout lover, what do I know? YMMV.

part of a mix a six picked up at good ta go in chambersburg pa last night. bottled 9/30/16, so a tad over 3 months old.
looks good. jet black, small oatmeal colored head. excellent lacing.
aroma is "stouty" not getting any coffee.
there's just not a lot of flavor to this one. its smooth, as an oatmeal stout should be, and the malts arent overly roasted, which i appreciate. but its described on the bottle as a coffee stout, and i'm not getting any coffee at all. it's not unpleasant in any way, just lacking.
mouth is all over the place with this one. it seems between medium and full, but finishes closer to thin. no discernable flavors on the finish.
overall, a bit of a disappointment. not a "super stout" by any stretch of the imagination.

Fine to start but the after taste is a bit burnt. Def. not on par with what I've come to expect from Ithaca.
