Notes:
Silver Medal Winner 1997 World Beer Championships - Oatmeal Stouts.
Our classic dark beer. Full body and a well rounded flavor comes from a foundation of seven different grains. The oats add a special silky texture that complements the roasted malts. The rich malty flavor is spiced with plenty of Northern Brewer and Fuggles hops for balance. Enjoy this perennial Free State Favorite by itself or as a blend with one of our other beers.

look: 3 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3
Appearance: Pours out dark brown with ruby highlights. About 1/4" of tan head forms that has below average retention and lacing. 3
Smell: Some dark malts show up, with chocolate and coffee as well. Some graininess and herbal notes show as well.
Taste: Dark malts, light roast, chocolate and coffee, some herbal hop notes hit on the back end. Not the most flavorful oatmeal stout out there, but decent.
Mouthfeel/Overall: Light bodied with pretty low carbonation, reasonably smooth and a bit slick. Overall, not my favorite oatmeal stout by any stretch, but solid enough.

Bottle poured into pint glass
Deep dark chocolate brown with creamy two finger cap that eased down into gentle edged lacings on the side of the glass. Nearly impervious to light with faint ruby shades at the bottom of the glass
subtle coffee fragrance with a hint of molasses
Smooth with a nice finish . Stout taste with subtle coffee after notes . Nice balance with the hops
Good weight on my tongue . Low to no carbonation
A good, pleasant stout and would prefer to try it on tap

a deep brown almost black pour, 1/2 of tan head. excellent retention/lacing.
smells of wood, vanilla, coffee, tobacco.
slight bitterness up front from the roasted grains with a milky sweet chocolatey finish. a delicious treat.. perfect balance of roasted and sweet flavors.
medium body with a creamy feel, nicely carbonated and leaves a chalky feeling behind.
overall, a damn fine stout! looks, feels, smells and tastes great, what more could you want? granted, it's not a special one off or anything like that, but as far as brewery staple beers go - this is fantastic.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass
A: Pours a dark brown that does not allow much light to get through, 1 finger of tan head with a good amount of lacing.
S: Coffee, chocolate and roasted malt on the nose.
T: Similar to the nose, coffee, chocolate, slight bitterness, and finishes with roasted malt.
M: Medium body and medium carbonation with a dry finish.
O: As someone that is not well versed with stouts I found this to be very drinkable.
