Surprised I found this on tap especially since I've never even heard of it. Yay Wisconsin!
The appearance is a nice pitch black with a tan one finger head that left a good amount of lacing.
The aroma is really nice with vanilla, coconut and a pleasant woodiness. Also some peat smokiness comes through.
The taste is complex with chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, caramel, bourbon oak, malt sweetness, spice and some smokiness.
The palate is medium- minus with a dry lingering chocolate maltiness that mixes with a nice bourbon oak spiciness.
Overall this is a great porter from dogfish that I wish could be available in stores.

Had on tap at DFH in Rehoboth. Review from notes.

A: Served in a goblet, the beer was a very dark brown with practically no head and minimal lacing.

S: The aroma was filled with some brown sugar, raisins, vanilla, and a little bit of cinnamon and cloves.

T: The flavor was rather similar to the aroma with brown sugar and the spices along with a good bit of roasted malt and a little coffee mixed in.

M: Medium to full bodied, but rather smooth with a nice level of carbonation.

O: A pretty good porter, liked the brown sugar and vanilla in it. Another low abv beer at the brewpub, something I am a fan of.

This was a brewpub exclusive that was available at the Dogfish Head Brewery and Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Served in a goblet glass

A - Beer arrived at the table with a one finger, light tan head. The brew is a totally opaque, nearly black color. Little to no lacing left on the side of the glass after drinking.

S - A roasted malt aroma with a slight sweetness

T - The initial taste is of roasted malts which is reminiscent of a standard porter. The additional of the Palo Santo smoking of the malts adds a nice addition of flavors such as vanilla and coconut along with a creamy sweetness. The taste is no where near its namesake Palo Santo Marron since only the malts get smoked with Palo Santo wood and it isn't aged on the wood. The ABV is not noticeable.

M - A lighter, yet still creamy, consistency. Medium carbonation. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

O - This was a really nice beer. The Palo Santo Marron is one of my all-time favorites and this beer does have some of the characteristics of it but is a totally different animal. I really enjoyed trying this since it is a brewpub only beer. This would make a nice addition to the DFH line if Sam would consider bottling it.

Cheers!
