A good place to grab a brew and people watch. Billy’s has a very good tap list and outside seating area. It’s on Grand ave so people watching and walking to other places is a good thing. Service and food is sports bar type of place. Tap list is very good , a place i would go to again for sure.

Terrible food. Terrible service. Great beer selection. Had a couple Founders KBS here and they were tasty. Everything else about this place was mediocre to terrible.

A sports bar with an above average beer selection. Never used to patronize this place much. A couple of my neighbors are regualars here so Id join them once in a while. They recently added a bunch of taps and put on some quality beers. I go more often now. Service is usually good. Food is alright. Typical fried this and club/burger/wrap that. Nice outdoor bar and patio thats great for watching twins games. Lots of douche bag bros and hoes with a slight gangsta element on weekend nights. Kind of a fun change of pace compared to the yuppy, hipster set typical of some of the other joints I haunt haha. I have fun whenever I go here.

I have a friend who lives around the corner from Billy's, so I have been here several times.

The building itself is a typical sports bar. If you are a fan of out-of-town NFL teams, they have seperate rooms for different teams (Bears, Packers) so it is a nice place to get away from the purple. Billys also has a fun patio when weather permits.

The clientele varies by what time of the day you visit. In the afternoon, it serves a nice variety of locals and families. At night, they might as well set up a boxing ring in the middle of Grand Ave. A lot of testosterone-filled college kids.

The service is generally friendly and prompt, the knowledge of the beers varies which is to be expected.

The beer selection has really improved in the last year or so. You are not going to find anything rare, but you will find a decent brew(s) in season.

The food is typical bar food, done well.

Overall: a nice place to visit in the afternoon to watch a ballgame or to hang out on the patio, but best to head out before the meatheads arrive.

Went in on a Friday night after stopping in at Axels located right across the street. It is a decent atmosphere. This is more of a college bar than a bar that one would go and enjoy a good beer at.

The service was very nice and very quick. We sat down at a table and had or drinks in a minute at most.

The selection was pretty good. I had a Schell's Snowstorm 2010. The beer is very good.

I did not have any food, and there was not really anyone around us that had.

Overall, this is an ok place to stop but not one that I would say is a must go

This place is just not for me. I've had many friends that live for this place with it's nice atmosphere and what not but not for me. I think its a little to high class for me. There's a lot of St. Thomas kids in here who get drunk and want to fight. The beer selection is average at best. An expensive place to go as well. The food is good though. Good place to go for lunch and have a beer but don't go at night when the students start pouring in to fight. The service is nice here too. A little above average my waiter was always on top of keeping my glass full :) and was very nice.

Ah Billy's on Grand, nothing out of the ordinary here, lots of neon shining all over, inside and out. Not a good place to "enjoy" a beer really; loud, young, immature, unfriendly, terrible parking, no bathrooms - have to use the ones down the hall in the strip mall, service is hit or miss, slow or busy. The food is OK at best, with alot of the same as most sports bars, nothing on the menu makes you go, hmmm...that sounds good. But what you order is decent grub. Beers either on-tap or bottle is nothing that ya can't get nearly at every other bar just like it around the towns. Marcos- Miller, Sam Adams, imports- Guiness, Becks, P. Urquel, local- Summit, Liene's, micros- S. Nevada Pale, Boulevard, Full Sail, its all the same around here. Maybe a different import or micro might find its way in, but again it wouldn't be anything ya can't find somewhere better; as to enjoy it.

The casual visitor to "old St. Paul" can be amazed that downtown virtually closes on nights when there are no events going on. A quick trip up to historic Grand Avenue can reveal a lot more night life, often at a place like Billy's on Grand. A one story dog leg building, straddling the line between a place to be "seen" and a sports bar, Billy's isn't a bad place though its a little too young and boorish at times. Three separate indoor bars and an outdoor bar as well, Billy's has a semi decent tap selection of local micros (and usually two kinds of Leinies from across the border), along with Boulevard brews, Beck's beers and Octoberfest (not a bad beer) in season, as well as Guinness, Pilsener Urquel, occasionally Stella, and a standard offering of bottles including Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, and Full Sail. Almost exactly average for a Twin Cities establishment that tries to have a minimally good beer selection. The food is decent, an emphasis on ribs and walleye, along with the standard burgers and sandwiches. All-in-all, this place is a little immature (as well as the service, once in a while) for my tastes, but a brew on the patio in the Fall is not a bad experience.
