Awesome gimmick bottle here. I'm sure some people save these as souvenirs. Poured into a huge frozen crystal stein.

A: Dark brown with an amber hue. Not much head that fizzed away quickly, leaving not much behind.

S: Rich roasted malt is the predominant smell here. Notes of red wine, caramel, molasses and dark fruits are detectable.

T: Sharply carbonated front hits up front and surprises me. Huge malt presence all throughout. Hiding in the background are some grains like corn and rice. Finishes great with a cafe au lait aftertaste that I like.

D: I could definitely drink two of these bad boys on a cold winter night.

I used to drink this beer in North Carolina. It's a good combination of porter and pilsner beers, unusual in my opinion for black and tans as in my experience they are stout and lager like Guinness and Harp. Still, it's very tasty and amusing in name being brewed in Utica, New York.

I love the jug. The appearance is unique and sets it apart from other bottles.
Distinct coffee, chocolate flavors. Sharp bite at the end. The coffee hits first and last. The chocolate taste is there but not overpowering. Nice brown head that holds the glass reasonably well. I enjoyed this beer and will purchase it again.
