After a couple of days away, I am back to the eradication of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody! It is actually kind of fun, reconnecting with some of these bottles after giving them short shrift in favor of The CANQuest (tm).
From the bottle: "Bright, refreshing and skillfully balanced - an all purpose après activity brew. Come out and play!"
I Pop!ped the cap, but I went with a very gentle pour. Even so, I got two fingers of dense, tawny head with good retention. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a pleasant malty sweetness, kind of cereal-like with a grassy hoppiness. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, big for the style. Taste was not only sweet, but it had a honey-like quality to accompany the cereal and grassy flavors noted on the nose. My late Pops was a big fan of Wheaties drizzled with honey for breakfast & this was very evocative of those flavors. Finish was more semi-sweet than outright sweet, but it was tasty, nonetheless. A nice, pleasant drink.

Bottle label data: none noted
The body presents a hazy, orange body with a thick, rocky, long-lasting white head; rings of white foam cling to the glass. Fresh-from-the-oven warm bread aroma. The flavor somewhat mirrors the aroma with the addition of a mild astringency and somewhat metallic bitterness. Medium body yet still feel watery despite the carbonation; generally dry finish.
An okay amber lager that lacks any distinctive qualities. The flavor is a let down, lacking some of the malt depth suggested by the aroma. Worth exploring but I'm moving on...
