Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Poured a very dark brown, almost black, almost opaque, with a medium foam consisting of some very large bubbles.

The malt smell hit me first followed by notes of chocolate and toffee.

Taste opens with the malt and finishes very crisp and clean. There are some metallic hints in here, and as I worked through the 12 oz., the flavor became smokier. Kept thinking it would turn peat-y, but never quite did.

Mouthfeel was relatively unintersting - very little action from the carbonation.

Good drinkability, could have had another.

The beer pours a deep, dark brown color. A decent, light-tan head provides a decent lacing. Smoky aromas dominate the nose, and hints of chocolate and cocoa poke through as well. Roasted malts mix with smoke on the palate while a thin earthiness and a touch of nuttiness make an appearance before fading into a spicy hop bitterness. Medium-light in body, Kidd is moderately carbonated.

This is a roasty black that is almost a rauchbier. It is black and nearly opaque but with very little head.. The aroma is close to that of a smoked beer.

The taste is of smoke as well, roasty to an extreme. Otherwise it has a clean crisp taste, and the aftertaste works the same way - very cleanly.

Kidd is one of many Colorado beers we are drinking this week while skiing in Vail. Like many of the others, it is a credit to the state.
