Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Pours dark brown to black, translucent in the light with a reddish brown hue. Light to moderate head, about 1/2" thick, of light brown 'sea foam' bubble consistency. Very light lacing.
Aromas are a complex mix of malts with coffee and chocolate notes foremost on the nose and some earthy notes beyond. Quite pleasant.
The initial rush is definitely a malty chocolate flood over the tongue but not as heavy as you might think for a stout. I wouldn't call this on thin but it isn't as chewy as I like 'em. The texture is relatively creamy with a very light and well tamed carbonation. As you roll it around with your tongue, you can really appreciate the malty multitudes. The finish is rather quick but there is a nice long linger of bitter chocolate that clings to the back of the throat before clearing. Beauty.
I found this brew to be very enjoyable and rather drinkable. There is a multitude of richness in the flavor profile without going overboard. It's still relatively balanced but leans toward the sweet by just a bit. Hops clearly seem to be there but do not play an incredibly noticeable part in the taste. Definitely worth checking out and I would have it again anytime.

Neat label but otherwise a pretty straightforward, unexceptional stout. It did not bring the chocolate notes forward that I expected given the name. In fact, it seemed to be just a plain, normal, slightly watery-in-the-finish American stout. No harm done, but not as exciting as a lot of stouts. Dark, dark color, decent head, nose not outstanding, just typical stout malt & hops. The same for the flavor, with some of the more complex and bitter notes in some stouts not present here. Drank 26 July 2016.
