Prominent dense, foamy and lasting white head on a slighty hazy golden orange color body. The smell is freshly malty with a dry hoppy impression. Quite enjoyable. Taste is a bit strange. A broad, fresh and sweet malty character, but also a tortuous grapefruity and juicy hoppiness with some peppery or cumin notes. Mouthfeel is round and smooth. Yeasty, creamy and almost buttery. The brew just lacks some balance, and the hoppiness somehow tastes rancid. Kind of enjoyable nonetheless. A weird beer, my opinion changes from sip to sip.

Hazy pale golden colour with a big, rocky white head. Great head retention.

Nice citrus and fruit aroma. Some hop character and citrus. A little light on. A touch peppery. Nice.

Light sweet malt and spice. Lots of citrussy fruit and a touch of bitterness. Bits of stone fruit. Complex and delicious.

Medium-light body with high carbonation. Nice.

A really solid saison. Lovely spice and fruit. Lightly malty and interestingly honeyed.

Bottle from Harvest Wines.

A - Pours cloudy light golden with a frothy three finger white head. Good carbonation coming up. Good lace rings and a film of retention.

S - Sweet spice combined with Belgian yeast and fruity esters with some bubblegum.

T - Sweet spice again with some spicy hops as well. Fruity esters come through again but the spicy hop/spice notes really come through the most.

M - Strong carbonation, medium body and a dry finish with some lingering spiciness.

O/D - Once again Saison Dupont comes through as a solid saison, but too heavily spiced for my full enjoyment. Pleasant though it was, I don't see the need to have a version of the same beer with lower alcohol and organic. Probably wouldn't get it again.

A: Hazy, light amber almost blond colour, decent creamy head

S: apple and pear, pretty sweet, some banana, very fruity, still get the yeast though

T: More spices, cloves; a more bitter touch, the banana is still there in the background (not really my thing though)

M: thin but creamy, carbonation okay, alcohol has a medicinal thing about it

O: Not really my thing but overall not bad

Pour is a light golden amber, nice haze, creamy off white head that sits very tight. The nose has sweet lemon up front, very zesty, dupont yeast, spicy and pepper, lots of citrusy hops behind with a blast of herbal aromas in the back. The taste has the lemon zest up front, very refreshing, spicy yeast, very peppery and balanced, the hops are so strong, stronger citrus than the nose with the pleasant herbal notes and a nice lingering bitterness. The body is so light and smooth, soft on the palate with a gentle but assertive carbonation and a semi dry finish. Amazing beer!

A: cloudy gold, brief but big frothy head, rings of lace and foam.

S: mustard and mayonnaise, dough.

T: honey, white wine or apple cider vinegar, yeast, some florals from the hops. Lemony bitter citrus finish.

M: creamy for a saison, with a dry and bitter, palate cleansing finish.

O: really good, middle of the road, light for a tripel and/or saison but with all the body and flavor those bigger beers pack. Exceptional mouthfeel and flavor for something in this category

25cl bottle poured into a chalice.

A: Nice golden honey color. One finger of head reduces to half a finger. Solid, but not chunky, lacing. Very small bubbles.

S: Earthy, little bit of funk, some light hops. Do I smell a young, light cheese? Almost as if it's tricking my senses with a faux coriander aroma.

T: A light, refreshing, medium bodied saison. Somewhat creamy and perfectly carbonated.

M: Medium finish...neither dry nor wet. Pleasant on the palate.

O: I enjoy this much better than St F saison. I'm not very experienced with this style, but find it enjoyable/sessionable due to lower abv and ease on the palate. Very nice summer brew.

25cl, best before March 2013, purchased in Belgium.

Pours a cloudy, glowing straw-orange with a nice and creamy head. A few floaties. Excellent lacing and good retention.

The aroma has some floral, European hops and a light, earthy funk to it.

Flavor is bitter and light. Some grassy hop flavor, and a light Saison tartness. Rubbery yeast action for sure, along with peppery and spicy notes. Quite refreshing and easy to quaff. The mouthfeel is light, with ample creamy carbonation.

Can't compare it to the standard Saison Dupont since it's been too long since I've had one, but the Biologique is very good and an excellent Summer beer.

Poured from a fairly battered and worn 75cl bottle into a small tulip.

A - Big fluffy head leading down a very cloudy amber coloured ale. Quite creamy when drank as well, head retention is excellent.

S - Hops and herbs. Strong sense of fresh ingredients - has that very familiar vaguely homebrew-esque fermentation smell with a hit of malt.

T - Initial reaction is that it tastes a bit like a Belgian style homebrew as well (I think we may have used the same yeast..) Quite vibrant on the tongue at first but with surprisingly less carbonation than you might expect. Big herbal feel verging on being spicy; primarily coriander coupled with some sour apple and something akin to aniseed. Also some lemon rind rounded off by a subtle malt coating.

M - Quite bitter on the palate initially but quickly fading to some sweeter herbal textures and a slightly sour aftertaste which sneaks up on you late.

O - Not as fruity as I might've expected. It softens a bit on the palate as it's consumed. Pleasant enough to drink as a bit of a change but probably not something you'd want to drink everyday.

A - Pours a cloudy honeycomb colour with a pure white head that stays the distance. This beer says drink me.

S - Plenty on the nose, with spice and peppery citurs notes.

T - Similar to a weizen bock with a little booze taken out. A little sour, plenty of spice and some nice yeasty notes too.

M - Medium body and carbonation.

D - I do not prefer this over the Dupont but its a great beer in its own right.

Poured into a Duvel Tulip

Appearance: Hazy gold, two finger head, The heads profile was foamy but the birds eye view was like a dense meringue, Good retention and lacing.

Smell: Funky doughy yeast, as it warms I get a banana and the doughy character intensifies. reminds me of monkey boy.

Taste: Earthy funkyness, Doughy

Mouthfeel: some sweet funk up front almost pungent (in a good way) slight sharpness on the back end moderate carbonation.

Drinkability: Quite drinkable mild carbonation and mouthfeel make this particular brew quite sessionable. I feel it would be a good beer with some mild cheese and bread.

I don't not like this beer I just feel the style from what I have tasted (not a whole lot) is kind of bland. Again nothing I dont like about this beer it just was not something to write home about in my opinion.

It's hard to distinguish this from "normal" Saison Dupont, which I guess is a good thing because the normal stuff is so incredibly good.

Like normal Saison Dupont, the Biologique is fresh, soft, creamy, tart, dry, a touch bitter, complex, subtle, friendly, amazingly drinkable, goes extremely well with food, and is just flat-out one of the best beers in the world.

The Biologique has a slightly lower ABV, and _maybe_ I can detect a slightly more watery taste before it kicks in, but after a very short while that goes away (normal Saison Dupont also has a short "getting started" period). I thought that maybe the Biologique also tasted a wee bit fresher, but that probably falls within the range of variability for any beer. The lower alcohol and somewhat smaller bottle (along with the very food-friendly taste) make this a great beer to have with a meal.

Anyway, great, great, beer; buy it, drink it!

"Crown top" bottle:
Golden-amber hue, fair cap, good lacing, moderate effervescence.

Aroma of fruits and some light spice and biscuits, very pleasant.

Flavor is bright: fruity, spicy, hoppy... light grainy malts dry-spritzy finish.

Not what you'd expecting from an intense saison but as decent malty export rendition...this is really decent unfiltered in the caged cork bottle

Appearance- bight, transluscent, apricot colored body. Looks likepartially filtered apricot juice. Head is a very white, foamy, 2-finger afair with decent retention and excellent lacing.

Smell- crisp, clean some sourness comes through the nose. Hints of horse blanket and citrus.

Taste- A very nice blend of light maltiness, lemon peel,

Mouthfeel- quite light in body. Well carbonated. Doesn't dance over the tounge, but is quite lively.

Overall- very, nice, easy drinking Saison.

Pours a hazy gold color with a white head that leaves very little lacing around the glass.

Smell is floral and of clove, orange, maybe some spice?

Taste starts our kind of grassy then changes to a more floral clove type flavor that finishes smooth with a lingering aftertaste of hops.

Very nice medium mouthfeel, slight carbonation. Easy drinking and very tasty wish this one had come in a bigger bottle!

Nice cloudy appearance, almost opaque, with a healthy off-white head that just sits defiantly. Pale orange-yellow in colour, can't see any carbonation and doesn't really leave lace from the head, although forms sheets of clingy foam further down the glass. Looks very pleasant.

Nose is pleasant, organic and spicy. Big overripe banana whiff and a vibrant peppery aroma as well. Hints of cumin, fennel and clove are evident in what is really a dominating spicy nose. Slightly tart fruit characters are relegated but present enough to lend some buoyancy to the proceedings.

Taste has a remarkably weizeny character at first, with a piquant clove blending with sweet banana flavours on the front. Mid-palate starts to turn sour, with an earthy funk character that seeps through with elements of white wine vinegar, green vegetables and a mild soil character. Finish is reasonably long, with some nice organic bitterness lingering towards the back, quite clean and leaves an enjoyable aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is foamy and slightly chewy, does feel thin at first but there's enough going on to lower the care factor about it. This is a crisp, enjoyable brew, slightly lacking on the complexity front but very smooth and drinkable as a result.

Nice thick-glassed green 750ml champagne bottle, caged and corked.

Lovely cloudy orange gold colour, with a big, boisterous and funky head of white foam, billowing up and almost over the rim of my tulip. Some sticky lacing. Looks wild, organic and wonderful. What more could I have hoped for in a saison?

Pleasant lightly funky and herbaceous notes on the nose, a little wood, leaf mulch, and Belgian yeast. Very nice notes, although they don't overwhelm. Very organic, with clear Belgian notes.

Clean and crisp on the palate, with a slight gritty bitterness at the back, that mellows to a sweeter Belgian ale funk. This final note is the most true to style note - this one is noticeably more bitter than any other saison I've had. It's quite full of a really straight and sharp noble hop bitterness. The back note grounds it a little more stylistically, but it's still a little off.

Mouthfeel is pleasantly crisp, adding to the refreshment of the beer, but again, like the taste, I prefer a bit more roundness in my saisons.

Still, I'm pleased this isn't just a straight clone of the standard Dupont Saison. It's a very refreshing and drinkable beer, and I wouldn't turn down another. I just have slightly different expectations for a saison.
