Review from notes. Thanks to Bo for opening this one.

A: Pours a deep ruby red color with no head or lacing whatsoever.

S: Nice aromas of cherry and raspberry, a bit of sourness and some funk/barnyard aroma.

T: Quite tasty with heavy fruit flavors. They cherry dominates, but there is a bit of raspberry and stone fruit underneath. The funk is a bit more present as well, mustier than the aroma.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, but sort of on the thick side of medium bodied.

O: It was good, but not worth the hefty price tag slapped on the bottle.

375ml bottle that my cousin scored for $11 which is surely a misprice. Blood red color and no head whatsoever. Aroma is thick cherries. Flavor is solid cherries both sour cherries and a cherry pie flavor. Oddly no funk and almost no tartness according to my tongue. Overall a very fruity kriek but this is no better than a regular hanssens kriek with polish cherries and I didn't really pickup any cinnamon notes that supposedly come along with the schaerbeekse cherries. This beer is certainly not worth the normal $23 price tag and frankly isn't worth half the price tag.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep red color lambic with a small bubbly head with no retention or lacing. Aroma of tart notes of cherry with loads of barnyard notes. Taste is also dominated by tart notes of cherries though not as much sour notes or acidity as I was expecting. There is quite a bit of barnyard notes with some funky notes. Body is full with limited filtration and almost no carbonation. Interesting though not something I would need to have on a regular basis.

A - No pop when the cork comes out. Yep, completely still, but a still a beautiful ruby color.

S - Cherry is definitely the dominant aroma. Both sweet cherry and some nice tart notes. There is some slight funk, but it is definitely subdued for the style, especially for Hanssens. Maybe not that complex, but I thought it smelled delicious.

T - More tart than the nose would suggest. Very tart, in fact. Also a bit more funk in the taste that the aroma. There is a small amount of sweet cherry, but sour cherry definitely steals the show. Quite tasty and refreshing.

M - Completely flat, but pretty smooth and quite dry.

O - Despite the lack of carbonation, I thought this was very tasty, even more so than the regular Hanssens Kriek. Luckily for me, both the cashier and I were naive as to what this was supposed to cost, so I got it for the same price as a regular Hanssens offering. I don't know that I would pay the regular price for this, but it was pretty enjoyable.

Bottle purchased at WLV Liquors and poured into Narke tulips (one for me, one for the fiance).

A - Pours ruby red, flat, ultra-thin collar.

S - Tart/sour cherries right up front, barnyard, maybe a touch of sweetness from the cherries, pretty sharp tartness. Has some complexity, actually more then I thought it would have.

T - Similar to the nose, perhaps a bit more one-dimensional. Tart/sour cherries, oak, barn, funk, vinegar, cherry skins dipped in balsamic. No real sweetness like I picked up in the nose, just lots of cherries notes and funk. Finish is all cherries with a tart kick.

M - Light body, no carbonation, dry puckering finish.

O - Good, nothing crazy here and (I don't normally say this) for the price, a bit too expensive. I would rather have Drie Fonteinen Schaerbeekse Kriek for $10 (or so) more with double the beer. I wouldn't probably buy this again, based on price alone, but I would have it again if offered up by someone else.
