A - Served a clear golden-orange color wit ha finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of some light citrus hop with some sweet caramel malt and some graininess. A bit of breadiness as well with some fruity esters.
T - Starts out with some caramel and other sweet malts with a bit of citrus hops and bitterness. Through the middle, more sweet grainy malts come through with a bit of breadiness and a bit of fruity esters. The finish is a mix of a touch more bitterness, more sweet bready malts, and a bit of sugary sweetness.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth a sweet and moderately dry finish.
D - Very drinkable. Flavors feel just a bit off. The beer is a bit too malty and could have used a bit more hop presence to balance.

On-tap at Triple Rock
A: The pour is a clear golden-orange color with a finger of white head.
S: Just an off nose to this beer. I get, perhaps, some body odor and rear end to start. There's certainly a bit of skunk and some yeasty notes, too. A weird grain husk and malt character. Overall, it's somewhat harsh.
T: A weird blend of semi-sweet and bitter flavors. There seems to be a bit of a burnt sugar flavor along with a lot of sugar and some golden plums and candied orange peel. Really a meh flavor.
M: The body is medium and so is the carbonation.
D: I wouldn't recommend this one. One of the few beers that I wasn't a fan of at all.

Pint at Triple Rock in Berkeley on 1/27/09, tried this one after their stout as I was in the mood for bigger beers on that freezing day, reviewed from notes, color is way too clear to be a strong ale, it is a golden amber, the head is huge, probably two inches and soapy white, some retention, no lacing sadly, aroma consists of malt and tons of it, bready, sweet, sugary, you name it, also some weird fruits like apricots and mangoes for the style, mild hops that were mostly floral, and a small amount of caramel, taste is way too mild, sweet malt first and gets chewier in the middle, floral hops in the finish with mild bitterness, does not change much as it warms, slightly sweet and dry mouthfeel, medium bodied, too much carbonation, could not drink much of this even though the flavor is on the lighter side and the taste does not stick around with you, it is filling from the sweetness, alcohol is not hidden well, heavy for a beer with such limited flavor, the brewpub describes this as a strong ale but it is not quite that, the style on here seems more accurate, I would skip this if I got another opportunity to have one in the future, might be worth trying

A: Pours a dark gold, didn't have much of a head when it got to my table.
S: Smells kind of floral and something else I can't describe--kind of funky.
T: Caramel malts. Mainly sweet but a little bitterness towards the end--not really hop bitterness, so I am not sure the best descriptor.
M: Pretty non-descript but goes down smooth.
D: Alright beer, but nothing amazing. Definitely hides the abv well.
