poured into Bruery snifter
big thanks to Beachstrength49 for this one!
A: deep caramel brown, with a subtle tint of ruby red when backlit. the pour created almost no head formation.
S: whoa! definitely not what I was expecting. Big sourness right up front, musty woody oak follows, with some alcohol (but not much). there's a hint of dark fruits, som e malty sweetness and an ever so slight hint of vanilla beans.
T: immensely sweet, yet tart at the same time. big Flander qualities really come through here. big malt, oak/wood barrels, tart cherries, vanilla finish. there is so much going on, and with every sip, a new flavor aspect is noticed. definitely one of the most palate changing beers I have ever had.
M: lighter side of medium bodied. and again the Flander aspect really takes hold and prevails in this aspect of the beer.
O: really don't know what to think about this. and the complexity is off the charts. this is extreme hard to lock down. its good, but there is so much going on that I feel that its off balanced. definitely glad to have tried this collaboration beer and, once again big shout out to Beachstrength49 for this one.

Many thx to Thijs for opening this bottle
Poured into a westy 12 tastinglass
A - hazy brown to amber, thin tan head, small amount of bubbles.
the red color really comes out when held up to a light
S - sour and bourbon vanilla, with sweet malt to even the two out
T - You get a bit of sour up front, then a little booze, then oak and bourbon. Very tasty, all of the flavors are big, but very balanced.
M - Medium to heavy bodied, full carbonation.
O - This is a really good

12oz bottle purchased at Hair of the Dog last year on my trip to Portland. Best After Date of 4/30/13 and today is after enough. Pours a murky dark mahogany color with a very thin ring of head. Some lacing. The aroma is very boozey with some cherries, dark fruits, brown sugar, and earth. Some oak. The taste is boozey with sour cherries. Malts, dark fruits, earth and oak. Caramel and bourbon at the end with more tartness. Kind of like a sour old ale. Thick mouthfeel. The Sherry and Pinot Noir barrels are the most dominant flavors. I heard this was a hot mess fresh so that's why I decided to wait. Overall, glad I got to have it but its not something I could drink often.
