12 oz brown bottle with a "Best By" freshness date notched on the side of the label. Blurb about the beer in the neck label.
A- Close to a reddish brick color, faint chill haze fades though the head stays as it shows some amazing head retention and stickage on the glass.
S- Herbal and citric hop aroma, different from years past. Big juicy tangerine hop aroma ... very aromatic.
T&M- Big juicy hop character of Amarillo hops upfront, sweet citrus juice-like. Just enough smoothness and crispness to get by. Sweet caramel and toasted malt flavor meld well with the sizable hop presence. Middle to end is more of an herbal / aspirin flavor and bitterness. Finishes with a mild sweetness and a long lingering medicinal hop flavor.
D- Don't try fixing something if it is not broken. I preferred the "East Kent Goldings" version ... unfortunately this beer has been subjected to the Amarillo Hop craze. Regardless, this is still a great ale to be had and pretty damn drinkable to boot.

Slightly hazy, dark amber beer with a very creamy white head with decent retention. Nice aroma of spicy, piney, slightly citric hop character with notes of freshly milled malts in the back. Flavor is full of crazy bubblegum! Raw, coarse, leafy, earthy hops follow with a smack of lemon rind bitterness. Mineral flavors, raw grain husky tannins. Quite dry, with an even malty / fruity sweetness and hints of roasted and toffee. Finish leaves the mouth dry with a residual coarse feel and some notes of nutty yeast.
A very flavorful brew, with a nice complex hop profile.

Substantial depth to the red hues that come out in the pour, yet, plenty of clarity despite being a darker red. Nice 1" head on it, good lacing, good retention. Aroma, like a spicier, hoppier red ale. Really brings out the caramel more than most reds, like a hybrid caramel ipa and red ale in the aroma.
Taste, delivers good hop notes. Mild citrus notes, average bitterness. Kind of a complex thing, leather, dark fruit notes even at times. Way more interesting than the average red ale out there. Maybe even a little toffee to this one.
More interesting than your average red, a decent beer in a great breweries portfolio. For whatever reason, I rarely see it anymore.
